i doubt nintendo will reveal the controller. unless they (very) magically decide to release the N5 this year. (i know this is impossible please do not flame me)

realistically we shouldn't expect a revolution release until xmas '06 so why would they reveal the controller now? why would they reveal the ON helmet? why would they show anything this early?

i believe at the most we will get to see some teaser footage maybe mario128, metroid, or (pathetically pleads) nexzt-gen zelda.

all that being said, wouldn't it be awesome if they decided to to a full-blown revolution unveiling and super fast xmas '05 launch!!! take that microshaft! take that puss-station!

nintendo is the awesome.

Myself, personally? I believe that one should be hyped for everything, and if it doesn't happen, you move on...You aren't going to die if you hype something up and nothing comes of it...

Bill: That is partially true. But if you hype yourself up and it doesn't happen the emotional drain on you can be pretty hard on you.

I can't play Poker because I get too emotionally involved with each hand that I can't sleep for nights after the game.

Hype for me is the same way. I get so excited digesting everything that when nothing comes in I feel completely drained.

Yeah I wonder why they would show anything now this early unless the Revolution is coming out early 2006. I would wait till after xmas.

I'm the complete opposite, Spang. I just let it go easy and try not to worry about it. I don't even get myself hyped up usually.

I'm not hyped for this. But I am willing to be surprised.

norebonomis, do not expect to see Zelda. They might show footage, but they don't want to overshadow the upcoming Zelda with a next-gen Zelda.

That's simple, to try and convince us NOT to buy an X360. They need to show us (me) something, or people will buy the X360.

Why WOULD they reveal something that is no obviously not real?

I certainly think it's possible that we'll see nothing exciting. I still expect to see something though. If Nintendo waits any longer to show us the controller then they're idiots. The Xbox 360 is launching this year and people need a reason to get excited about the Rev or they'll buy the competition. "Trust us it will be cool" isn't good enough particularly since Nintendo is at pretty much it's lowest point in popularity ever right now. With Zelda delayed there's nothing really exceptional coming out for the Cube this Christmas and I imagine a fair bit of disgruntled Nintendo fans are going to be considering switching teams when the X360 comes out. Nintendo fans need something to believe in and that means we have to know a fair bit more about the Rev.

I feel it's TGS or bust. They might not show anything but they should.

Not if it's anything like the super fast xmas '04 DS launch. I don't think they have to launch early. They just have to make sure that when the other consoles launch people know about the Rev and want to wait for it. A rushed and weak launch followed by a DS-style drought would probably be worse than launching in 2006.

Yeah, it's possible Nintendo will show nothing, and that's not really out of character for the company. It's still very tentative, I've heard things like they want to show something. Taht means that they won't unless they believe it's "good enough" In some ways that's good, look at the backlash against Xbxo 360's initial launch. On the other hand, people seem to be getting genuinely hyped about the system as it comes closer, I guess you can reverse first impressions after all. (And let's be honest, a large percentage of gamers are only starting to learn about Xbox 360 now).

I think Nintendo should show something for the same reasons as Ian. Nintendo needs to give gamers a reason not to buy a 360. I still don't think multi-system gamers are common enough for Nintendo to rely on people buying both its machine and someone elses, so it needs to get people interested before Xbox 360 is launched.

I think there's an even possibility of either things happen. I have no doubt that they have something they COULD show, because I remember hearing from someone, perhaps Miyamoto or Iwata himself, that they had someing for E3, but they didn't believe it was perfect. With this extra time, I'm positive that they're ready.

However, Iwata is making another keynote speech, and I doubt it will be entirely about the Revolution. Iwata wants to say something, otherwise he wouldn't be at TGS, which is unusual for Nintendo. What he wants to say may not be about the Rev specifically.. If the Rev is going to detract from his main point, than they may not show it.

I'm starting to think we'll still be left empty handed with the controller (no pun intended). Sony's controller isn't even final yet, is it? Nintendo is banking so much on theirs that they would likely hold off as long as they had to.

We might hear a combination of vague comments (re: controller) and also more detailed comments about other aspects of their future.

Don't forget there are still very few details known about their internet connectivity. Is it ONLY matchmaking and virtual console downloads? I'm banking on a much more robust service than what we know about. ESPECIALLY since there's a fee involved. I highly doubt it'll be nothing more than just a bland selection list of available downloads.

I'm not saying they will necessarily go into detail about their online service. I'm just saying that there is little known about ALL aspects of the system, and they could drop big news that comes out of left field since we're focusing so much on the darn controller.

on this blog http://theblogs.net/user/kingdea/archive/2005/7/ an 'insider' says that the revolution will feature mouse and keyboard connectivity not for fps games but for nintendo's 'lifestyle software suite' i think that if nintendo showed everything off BUT the controller they would be in a safe zone from potential nintendo people defecting to the micro-$oft juggernaut.

The problem is that Nintendo has made it out like the controller is the Rev's big edge. After that kind of build up they can't show us everything but. We've been told that the controller is the whole point. Without it we still don't really know what we want to know. My greatest concern regarding the Rev is that controller will be too weird. If I don't see the controller that concern will still be there and it will make it harder to get excited. The X360 has a pretty generic controller but at least it's a safe proven design so no one is going to be concerned about it.

I'm leaning toward pessimism right now. The more excited I get the more I will be let down. I'm expecting at the very least:

more-or-less solid dates for the full unveiling
some actual tech specs and discussion on their architecture
a small hint at the games of Rev. *crossing fingers for some video clips*
mention of one or two new games they are making

as for the controller? I'm not expecting anything but wouldn't be surprised if they reveal some actual info, whether it be another "hint" at it, if we get a vague overview of it, or if we see it. I can't really get too angry if they hold off some stuff for X360's launch...

my only question is: If not at TGS when and where would be an appropriate time and place?

Hmm that makes sense then. It's easily copied but still HIGHLY unique and is something only Nintendo could hype up to sound awsome. I mean really, imagine the amount of creativity and uniqueness that would result from this!!!

Hasn't the controller "come up" in all the Revolution speeches till now? Isn't that why we're so excited to see it?

Now if they said "show up" I'd start getting excited.

And for the record, I don't think anything exciting will be shown at TGS, Rev-wise. But I like Iwata's speeches so I'm still looking forward to it... and the onflux of bitching will make forums everywhere livelier than ever.

Sorry but this fell through as I imagined it would. Take a look >>>HERE<<< They "assure" info on Thrusday and Friday though I can't help but doubt them now.
