Mario Baseball sightings?
« on: August 29, 2005, 05:52:07 AM »
The official release date is today (August 29), but the ads for Best Buy and Circuit city both said "in stores Wednesday".  What gives?  Was the release delayed or are these stores just late getting their games?  I know I've purchased games at BB on a release date before.

I'd go to a game store, but I've got $40 in Reward Zone coupons to redeem!  So has anyone sighted Mario Baseball at a Best Buy today?

Best Buy's not doing the shipping, moron.  You can't just get an early shipping by asking nicely.

The game SHIPS today, that is correct. But only game store chains like GameStop or EBGames would get the game in on the same day. Stores like Best Buy (and Wal-Mart, and Target), buy the games from Nintendo in large bulk bundles, which get sent to distribution centers and THEN shipped to stores. Which is why the games tend to show up a couple of days later (and sometimes even up to a week later).

I'll be swinging by Best Buy today to see if it is in (keeps fingers crossed).  I really hate Best Buy any more.  But I've got $40 in coupons that I need to use in the next month.  They wouldn't let me use the coupons towards a Zelda preorder, so this is it.  :-(

Only on the West Coast. Most GameStop and EBGames locations don't receive the title until the day after it's shipped.

Unfortuantely, I heard the same thing while I was at GameStop yesterday. Apparently, Mario Baseball was "stuck" in Memphis, TN due to Katrina. This is what the store employee were telling the few customers that come in asking about the game. I guess one customer that had pre-ordered it asked someone to look through the boxes UPS had just delivered. Low & behold, they received their shipment.

I went by the Best Buy in Waco, TX today and picked up my copy.  It wasn't on shelves yet, but I asked around and got them to produce a copy. Know what else I found out?  I commented on the fact that GameCube software space was decreased at their store and the guy in the video game deparment said that BB was going to quit carrying GameCube hardware soon.  Of course, this may mean around the time Revolution comes out, which makes sense.  But the way he said it, it sounded like in the next few months.

Well the best buy here also has a decreased space but its bigger than the PSP game section. And there are like 4 seperate different gamecube sections and 3 seperate DS sections since their running out of space.
