Well yeah, but I figured most existing gamers mostly have their minds made up.  Those who care enough to actually consider the Rev- those who are just waiting for more info- would be the type of people who who pay a lot of attention to the industry, and would catch the later "Metroid" unveiling in time or whatever.  Gamers who don't care as much may never really learn of Metroid, especially since his or her's main means of information is through word of mouth.  The Rev concept might reach them, but Metroid may not.

I guess.

I think they're trying to throw off Sony since (they too) haven't shown off their controller.  I seriously doubt they'd boldly give their competition a heads-up by saying "our Revolution will be easy to copy"...I think it's more of a throw a wrench into their plans by keeping them on their toes and making them not know what to expect.

Sony did show their controller; they just said that it wasn't the final design because everyone hated it.

There are still people who haven't made up their minds. Nintendo needs to appeal to those people people by giving more hints and clues and maybe a few details about the controller. If they did that then some people will go "hmmmm. . .sounds interesting. I should keep an eye on them." Nintendo just needs to keep the buzz going by only letting us know a little bit.

I like the idea of just showing little bits of Revolution, but I wonder if that would get a reaction from the press?  Certainly the gaming media would be all over it if Nintendo were to show a close-up of one piece of the new controller, for example, but the regular news outlets wouldn't give a crap and Nintendo could run the risk of slipping under the mainstream media's radar until E3 or system launch.  I don't know if that matters so much anyway, but I do think it's in Nintendo's interest to hype this system up soon.

I'm guessing Nintendo wants to finalize a lot of stuff first.  They're probably still tweaking a lot of things, but maybe they should just show off the non-final prototypes.  There's an idea right there...Nintendo has been talking quite a bit about Revolution, but images are what we're lacking.  If games are too early to show, why not show of prototypes of the system and the controllers.  Even if the prototypes won't be used, it would generate interest and could probably be done in a way that doesn't give any secrets away.
That's my opinion, not yours.

The main media doesn't pay attention to gaming anyway.

Besides there is a way to get the main media to report the story.  Offer the media an exclusive story.  Go to one media source and offer and exclusive.  Be in complete control of what images and video can be released and give them an article nobody else will have.

A month letter do that again revealing more with another media source.  Don't play favorites and do it as much as you want.

Exclusives you can give out:

Pictures of games/Impressions
Pictures of the controller/ Impressions
Upcoming games
structure of the download service.
ect...

All of these things would be great articles that would get people to buy a magazine, newspaper, or watch a show.

Well Nintendo has recently discovered that there is a thing called the "internet". So it's possible they may learn to talk to the "ME DI A". I mean the Nintendo execs must be going outside at least once or twice a year now.
