No Four Swords?

The Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords is not in development for the Nintendo DS, but there is a Zelda title in the works for the system

sorry if posted. Billy

Anyways. Probably using the OOT engine... My Guess. Or a 2D Zelda? and just use the two screens to form a giant screen?

Hmmm, but Miyamoto confirmed it himself in an interview a while ago didn't he? They either scrapped it, moved it to something else, made it into something else, or it's not coming out til next year so they don't want to talk about it (sound familiar? =P).

Well I hope it's a 2D Zelda, leave the 3D games for the home consoles.

"Even though Capcom has done a formidable job with making games for the Game Boy Advance in the past, this time around, Zelda for the Nintendo DS is being developed in-house at Nintendo."

SWEET!  Nintendo themselves working on the title is great.  I loved the Capcom games but they weren't quite on par with the other Zeldas.  Capcom didn't quite "get it".  They had friendly Dodongos and reused tons of stuff from the console games and things like that.  It was obvious to me that I was playing someone else's take on a franchise that they didn't quite understand.  Those games were still really great though.  But with Nintendo themselves behind the helm we're sure to get something that feels more accurate.  Unless NST is working on it.  Bleh.

I hope it's 2D though for the same reason as Mario.  Plus we haven't seen a new 2D Zelda from Nintendo themselves since Link's Awakening.

I think the rumor/report/whatever was that Nintendo had two Zeldas in the works for the DS, one being a Four Swords game, and the other being a new 3D game, built on a port of the N64's OoT/MM game engine.

I'm guessing that Shiggy or whoever may have announced that they know they're going to be making a "Four Swords DS", but work still hasn't technically even begun on it yet (possibly due to Twilight Princess's crunch time).

I should think that if they're working on a new Zelda with the OoT/MM game engine, it would have to be Nintendo, not Capcom.

NST could be working on it, as they already have experience with OoT/MM on the GameCube, and putting together the Master Quest, and experience with N64/DS porting (Ridge Racer DS). But it's probably just the grunt work, as I can't see Nintendo giving them an entire Zelda to design. Plus it's probably going to need an all-new non-cookie-cutter focus on game design, to make a 3D Zelda game that's built with a focus on D-pad or stylus control, unlike Mario 64 DS which was built around analog.

They didn't actually port OoT/MM to the Cube, they just emulated it (which is why MM would hiccup from time to time).

Still, its more or less the same engine as Mario 64 (and even has a few of the same textures), so much of the engine is already running on the DS.

Maybe Four Swords will be a DS/Rev connectivity title?

"You haven't played Minish Cap, have you?"

Sure have.  Loved it.  Still not in the same league as Link's Awakening though.  It's like Capcom's Zeldas are a 10 and Nintendo's Zelda are an 11.

Iwata did say he thought there would be two online titles from Nintendo at launch, one being Smash Bros.  This could possibly be the second.  I don't conceivably see them using Mario Kart as a launch title.

Capcom's been doing a lot of good work lately. I'd hope for them to take a crack at RE5 as a Rev launch title.

I positive that there will be a Four Swords game in the future.  Nintendo's idea for the DS came partially from the title

Are you talking about the Gamecube or GBA Four Swords? Because Nintendo developed the Gamecube one.

Except that in the interview Savior linked to, Aonuma has officially "de-announced" the DS Four Swords game.

Since Four Swords Adventures is the worst selling Nintendo published Zelda game ever, I wouldn't be surprised if they abandon  that spin off altogethor.

well, it's only like that because of the requirement of it to play multiplayer. And it was a multiplayer focused game too.

You know, it's a shame that Four Swords Adventures sold so poorly...  Its game play was the most fun I've had with a Zelda game since Link's Awakening (well, actually, the first Four Swords was hullva fun...)

yeah, it wasn't a bad game. It was really good. It just wasn't very convenient. If they just ported over the exact same game to the DS it would sell a whole bunch!
