I'm going to assume that nothing is going to happen on Thursday.  Why the hell would Nintendo intentionally blow their conference, when everyone is paying attention to them, to "fool" us and show the real deal a few days later when they have to directly compete with everyone else for the spotlight?  It logically makes NO SENSE.  It's just hopeful thinking.  I remember rumours of this sort occured at E3 2003 after Nintendo completely bombed with their connectivity focused conference.  These rumours however didn't really occur last year when, by a sheer coincedence I'm sure, Nintendo had a great conference.

People want to see more so they're making sh!t up.  Nothing's happening.

Thanks, Ian. Keep trying to convince me.

This forum needs something like an expectation-lowering thread where everybody just finds as many reasons as they can to rob everybody else of their hope so we can all be surprised.

After the still fresh in everyone's memory "mega-ton" (Ok, the words censors here are really starting to piss me off...) ordeal, I would actually agree there.

if there isn't ALOT more to the so-called 'revolution' i'm going to be super dissapointed in nintendo. so much i won't even buy a rev to play a rev zelda. i will wait if i have to to be able to download it on my ps4 or ps5. i'm completely serious. nintendo either needs to deliver on the revolution/innovative controller. or get up to par with the ps3 tech demos. or else this fanyboy is defecting.

See you were a victim of the word censors here too... don't get me wrong, I understand the need to censor stuff that might be offensive, but when you start censoring stuff just for kicks, like mega_ton, then you have gone too far.

Anyway, I don't think I would blame Nintendo for that situation in the first place, wasn't really them who built the hype only to dissapoint, it was really built around them and they didn't have anything to do with it really.

The videos were clearly clues, one where a woman says "We're ready for the launch on Tuesday..."

And why would they do it?  Easy, look at how much discussion there is on the internet already, the SAME DAY as the conference about Nintendo and the Rev?  There's more palpable excitement than I can ever remember about Nintendo.  EVERYBODY wants to know just what they are up to.

Random thought:  Now, this doesn't fit in with quotes a month ago, but to make sense of the comments on Nintendo.com today, what if, they realized they did need to show more, but didn't want to blow what they already had staged for their conference, to do a blowout on Thursday?  That would give them a bit more time to get something together, now wouldn't it?     *Maybe?*

Don't speculate on this too much, it will probably just result in a big disapointment.
Thanks for listening.

Right...did Nintendo just magically became the master of mind-games or is this completly bogus... if this all true and Nintendo does have something big for thursday, it's a bloody god hypemachine they started and Reggie took a lot of names allready.

But i'm stil in the denial fase and i have to say...yeah right... put it where the sun don't shine and smoke it.

I agree, but as conspiracy theories go it's pretty nice.

Holy crap, I've checked a few other sites and this conspiracy is deep and convoluted.

There's so many layers to this thing...

Wow. Even if it turns out to be fake, it's a hell of a ride.

Don't hope for a public announcement.  But I would bet on a closed door demo for some of Nintendo big partners.

But what could it possibly be, if it is true?

All I can think of is that they might show the controller, a game, or both.

Maybe they will show off SSB3, or a new mario game.

Darn it... I will not get sucked into this, I was not fooled into believing in the first Never Happening, and I wont be fooled by this one... but I really want to beli... NO, it is not true... but if it is... ARGGG, my brain hurts.

From that article
Quote

Well, it actually was.  In fact, Matt Casamassina of cube.ign.com had a lot to say about why he felt Aries was completely bogus.  He claimed that nobody but people as high up in the Nintendo company rank as Reggie himself could have access to information such as what Aries provided.

This made me think. If third party developers are working on Revolution software, they would no doubt know everything about the system, which makes leaks a lot more possible, and Matt claiming that only people high up in Nintendo would know, strikes me as something he'd just say only for the purpose of discrediting this Aries fellow, and not as a logical reason, since people high up in third party companies would also know.

Wow.

I've been following up on quite a few threads of this "puzzle".

Never Happening has nothing on this. Check a few other messageboards if you're interested... there's about a half-dozen different independent people all corroborating each other.

If it's all a coincidence, I'm impressed by the sheer odds alone.

Mario, the paranoid consensus is that Matt didn't actually deny anything in that quote. What if Aries is actually somebody as high up as Reggie, or God forbid maybe even Reggie himself?

Like I said, completely and utterly ridiculous and yet so very appealingly compelling at the same time. Even if nothing comes out of this weird game I'm enjoying it immensely nonetheless.

Wow indeed, i'm starting to fall for this too. I'm not getting my hopes up for anything though (i'm already satisfied with E3 from the Zelda trailer alone), but this is fun to speculate. Certainly a lot of things fit, but finding the things that DONT fit are a better way of discrediting something.

...crap, I just tried to think of something that didn't fit, but couldn't.

Let me think some more...
