if the feather is in the game then there is no hope of anyother game being close to this.

I don't get what you mean by that. The original Super Mario Kart let you hop with the shoulder buttons, yet it was the only game to include the feather.
It was very useful because it let you jump over obstacles or projectiles, and create shortcuts.

The Feather was awesome for completely balancing the race.  If you got the Feather you could create your own shortcuts or take a risk on the pre-made shortcuts in some of the tracks.

My favorite thing about the original was the speed ramp jumps that you could place a green turtle shell on cause somebody to spin out and have to redo that lap.

Battle Mode is available online, but no co-op play
I assume they mean grand prix when they say co-op.  And if this is true, that really sucks.

"It's been so long since there has been awesome battle arenas"

I agree with you for the most part, but have you played 4-player Shine Thief in Luigi's Mansion with friends who are as good as you? Wow, that's an experience.

I don't really mind if Grand Prix isn't online; you can beat it yourself in Single Player; and you can always play Versus online.

I don't no, Grand Prix online would be great, but if you can do it wireless, single card then that'd work for me. Do y'all think that new courses will be added via GBA slot?

4 Player online mode via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection
Yea - no Grand Prix because only 4 players can play online. Again, I don't mind that.

Quote

Possible touch-control steering
Interesting....hopefully it's implemented well.

Approximately half of the courses are new
So, looks like it will be the usual 4 Cups (16 courses) then 14 old tracks. Nice.

And the GBA cart could be used, but I doubt it, because there are enough tracks etc.

I also don't like it how I have to blow into the mic to get rid of my clouds in Yoshi T&G either. It would be much better if I could just press the L button to do that.

Yeah... or better yet, what if those clouds just cleared themselves and you didn't even have to press the L Button at all?

In MK64 and MKDD the CPU just sat out if three or more players were selected.  So that doesn't really mean much.

Only four players online is acceptable but a little disappointing.  One of the big selling points of online gaming is that it's not limited to only the traditional four players.  Still it's better than nothing and I'm sure the Rev version will have even more players (Double Dash allowed 8 with LAN so it should be comparable for the Rev).  The Grand Prix traditionally isn't available for multiplayer so again that's acceptable.  Personally I would like to go through the cup with friends and still have some computer opponents.  But it's not like Mario Kart DS is dropping that feature or anything.  It's just a nice "wouldn't this be cool" sort of thing.

Eh? I was talking about full Grand Prix with the maximum amount of players all racing cups, then the winner is the one with the most points

I always thought the battle modes of Mario Kart were over-rated.  The balance was horrible on the original games.  The Nintendo 64 battle mode tried to iron out the balance and did a pretty good job, but not perfect.

I haven't played battle mode with the Gameboy Advance games so I don't know how good those are.  The Gamecube although it had the most promising Battle Mode.  Or at least the potential for a promising battle mode I think it failed the most.  The Balance was horrible and their was only 2 really good battle mode tracks.

Ah well, w/e; maybe I wasn't clear.

And Spak, what are you talking about? The balance in the Battle Modes in DD was absolutely perfect. Maybe you are a lot better than your friends, but when I played (we're all basically equal skill) it always came down to the final seconds on shine thief or it was close on bob-omb or we were all at one balloon until the end. I don't know why you think that, but for me, the balancing was all I could ask for, as we were found screaming after almost every battle

WHAT? In the same paragraph you compare the simplicty of breathing to that of pushing a button but dismiss breathing into a microphone as hard?

Oh come on Bill. The n64 had appalling battle arenas. Block fort was so big that it'll take 10 minutes just to find your opponent, that donut one was flat out stupid. And did the squares with openings of the Super nintendo really inspire you?

16 + 14 = 30. gba/n64europe.com quite clearly said MORE THAN 30 courses. 30 is not more than 30. Moron.

Now that I feel better, I shouldn't have been so hard on IceCold. What this game should have is an online GP mode. You race against 7 other people and you all earn championship points. It's VS on a larger scale.

"More than 30" means 30 and a half in marketspeak. Since half courses don't count it's 31 courses.

16 players if you let each one control half a kart. Cool idea. "Hey, I'll drive, you press a button when I tell you to!".

WHAT? In the same paragraph you compare the simplicty of breathing to that of pushing a button but dismiss breathing into a microphone as hard?

Breathing into a microphone correctly so it registers. I don't know about you but I perefer not to pretend I'm taking an alcohol test in public.
