I'm not. I don't care.

But I suppose it's better that Nintendo's listening to what people want.

Thank God.  For a second I thought Nintendo was going to release on offline Mario Kart mere months before the DS goes online.

Paladin, Mario Kart is already a multiplayer focused game so I don't see why online would "ruin" it or anything.  I can see your concern over single player focused titles but Mario Kart has never been single player focused.

Don't worry Ian, I'm not going to start again. I already thought of that and you're right so that's why I said "I don't care".

Killer-ap? Why, just because it's online? I doubt it.

Because it's MARIO KART you online prejudiced person.
Now I can play against my brother who lives across the country from me. We used to have such a big MK rivalry, but the utter lack of teleportation devices in the new millenium has hindered our play sessions UNTIL NOW! or at least... until it comes out. Another thing that i hope will come out of it being online, is NEW DOWNLOADABLE TRACKS! Hopefully Nintendo will do this. Either that, or include a lot of tracks from the getgo.

"Because it's MARIO KART you online prejudiced person."

Actually, the quote was:
"Now we're talking killer-ap"

Online will not add to a title's killer-appness. I'm sorry... you could say playability, maybe... functionality, options, whatever... but adding online to a game won't make Joe Gamer rush out and buy it in droves, I don't think.

Edit: You would think that about Halo 2, but I highly doubt online is what sold the game, considering (if I'm not mistaken) that it sold about three times as much as the entire Xbox Live service. No, I think Halo 2 sold for the same reason San Andreas did... massive, massive hype.

Besides, if Halo 2 sold that well because of online, then why did Halo 1 sell?

I'm not convinced.

Free online play is a whole other issue. But then again, talking to Paladin about online is like talking to a brick wall about, well, anything.

Unless you've got a wrecking ball and there's somebody on the other side.

Besides, come on. I think I stopped myself from putting down online pretty well this time... give me some credit.

I think it's safe to say that pretty much all multiplayer Nintendo-branded DS titles will be online. Yes, that includes the new Mario Bros.

"As for weapons, the team would like to implement some new items that use the DS features, such as a balloon that is inflated by blowing into the microphone."

Gah!! Someone explain how blowing into the DS microphone to inflate a ballon in mario kart is a good idea...

See, this is the "got to use it" problem with the DS, castlevania has the same issues

"As for weapons, the team would like to implement some new items that use the DS features, such as a balloon that is inflated by blowing into the microphone."

That's not simplifying the game or making it more fun.  It's just adding needless busy work.  In Mario Kart you push a button and your weapon goes off.  It's easy and it's intuitive.  If you can't do it you probably can't breathe on your own.  This is just making it harder to control.

If this sort of unnecessary junk is in the game I'll wait for a Rev Mario Kart to get my online Mario Kart fix.  I seriously think that sort of approach would ruin the game.

Let's have Mario Kart DS and just not use the features, eh?  That sounds like a grand idea.

Not neccesarily a bad thing. Online and Dual Screen is enough of a feature, and honestly after playing the GBA version I think a mighty fine Mario Kart experience is possible without the touch screen or the microphone.

Not every game needs to use every peripheral.

It's not.  Personally, I don't like it.

I also don't like it how I have to blow into the mic to get rid of my clouds in Yoshi T&G either.  It would be much better if I could just press the L button to do that.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I don't think the balloon idea is a good one.  I don't even understand why they need balloons, much less ones that use the microphone.  But if they can do something with the game that is both intuitive, fun, and adds to it all, they certainly should.  They can't throw stuff around, but if they come up with a good idea that uses a peripheral they should impliment it.  Don't be traditionalist just because it's safe, what's the point of releasing it on DS if you're afraid to try new things?

I'd say don't overdo it with the risks in Mario Kart. This is going to be the app that's going to sell a lot of people on the DS, Wireless online Mario Kart is enough of a sales pitch. Make the best use you can of the second screen, come up with the best online experience you can, and save trying new things for Animal Crossing where it's going to be more easily accepted.

All Nintendo needs to do to make this the greatest game ever is add the feather hop. Will it ever see the light of day?
