Yeah, SE support is big.  Then again, it's looking like Square is interested in the Revolution, too.  Maybe Square will start making cross-platform games?  I'd say online cross-platform, but MS probably does not want Xbox360 talking to Revolution and PS3...

They removed it. Probably an internal miscommunication, people kept talking about "the Final Fantasy creator!" and the webdesigners thought they meant Square Enix. Or it's a deliberate "error" to get people to believe SE is going to support the Xe.

I imagine it's a goof up since they have former Square Enix guys working on the Xbox 360.  I doubt Square would support the Xbox 360 because it is still American-focused.  Looking at what we've seen so far North America is clearly the target market and Square Enix probably would want someone like Sony or Nintendo who care a lot about the Japanese market.  There are some obvious attempts to attract more Japanese developers but I think that's more to please North American gamers who like Japanese games.

Its the seccond time its been removed, first from the official 360 developers page, and now here....

i think they simply goofed and when people realized it they removed it.....  and this is big stuff.... if Square goes multiplataform then Sony has a HUGE fight.....

but theres rumors of a big Sony surprise on Monday as well.....  hopefully Nintendo can pull a shocker too

I hope that the Sony and Nintendo surprises are a bit more than last night's...

Yeah, it probably was an error because of the Chrono guys making a game for 360.

I highly doubt that, I think it falls more into the category that the webdesigner there doesn't really look into stuff all that hard. As Bill points out, they don't really have a track record worth getting excited over.

What it sounds like to me is Nintendo is going to have lots of square support...unless something has changed Square hates microsoft......but Microsoft has Sakaguchi(mistwalker) making a game that I  believe is called Blue Dragon.

I remember when ThePerm used to be cool...until he forgot how to spell.  >=O

Anyway, yeah, it happened with Minish Cap appearing on GameFAQS if you searched "Zelda" for like 2 hours the day before E3 last year...

It's all deliberate.  They want you to be excited.  This stuff always happens right before E3.  I believe something happened before GDC but I can't remember...

I believe this is deliberate but misinformation, they ant us to believe things that aren't without claiming them and being open for attack because of them. They haven't said anything about backwards compatibility, I doubt they'll have it but they have a video showing old XB games running on a Xe and now everyone believes they have it (I believe it's a portjob).

FF 11 on Xbox 360 and possibly more RPGs...

If Microsoft can get some Square love, i expect Chrono Break tomorow for the Revolution!

We better get some decent support now.  According to IGN Final Fantasy was demoed in some capacity on the PS3 and being odd-man out regarding Square Enix support would be pretty sh!tty for Nintendo (and for us).

But then Xbox 360 is only getting FFXI so far and that's nothing for any sane human being to care about.

The big question is "who gets Dragon Warrior?"  That's what really matters since that ensure victory in Japan.

You've got to give credit to Microsoft though.  They bombed in Japan and now they're making some serious effort to fix that.  I hope Nintendo is doing what they can to "fix" their problems just as well.

That backwards compatiblity stuff however is lame.  It's better than nothing I suppose but it's a crappy substitute for the full backwards compatibility that Sony and Nintendo are providing.

How does it work though? Will only those particular game discs work or will downloading rom / iso's be involved? Or even worse would one have to buy an X360 compatible version?

It looks to me like Square Enix is going to go multiplatform.  I bet it'll pick a favourite after some of the dust settles in the opening sales charts, with PS3 being the default choice.
That's my opinion, not yours.
