Resident Evil 4 - killing the red eyed beardy bloke
« on: May 06, 2005, 03:44:05 AM »
I guess I'm near the end of the first disc.

Leon has entered a large barn with a barking mad baldy red eyed beardy bloke. After setting him on fire he turns into a great big spine monster thing. Easy thinks I blow him up with the rocket launcher - so I blow him up and he splits in half and turns into a leaping spider thing.

Any advice on how to kill it? where do I shoot? clues please

I assume you are doing easy seeing as you have not beaten him before. The easiest way to do it, IMO, is to keep your rocket launcher for the second form. Throw a incedinary grenade as him right away (assuming you have some), wait til' the fire dies down and throw another. FIRST STAGE DONE (hopefully). And for the second stage he'll swing on the rafters, if you're a bad shot just wait til he comes close and BOOM! Blast his hide to haedes!

If you rather do it the conventional way: First form- Keep blasting his spine, handgun from afar and shotgun upclose. To escape him go up the stairs then jumop down again.

Second form- Wait til he swings up close to you. Hit him with the shotgun he'll fall down. Keep blasting him, and soon he will fall......

Goog luck!

Yeah, seriously, you're around halfway through the first disc, perhaps less.

Anywho, rocket launchers for bosses is pretty cheap (even though I did it a couple times >_>).  This guy's actually pretty easy, so don't waste your money on him.  As long as you have a few grenades and your trusty shotgun he's pretty simple.  For the first form just throw a couple incedinary or hand grenades or shoot him in the spine with the shotgun.  When he gets to close just run by and dodge (L+R when directed) all the way to the other side and repeat until his second form.

There's ammo and health and grenades everywhere, too, so pick some up if you can.  On his second form, I just stood in the same spots as before (either end of the room by the door or ladder) and waited for him to come closer and then nailed him with the shotgun or another grenade, and then ran to the other side.  On one side of the room there's a barrel you can shoot to to damage him.  I never go on to the second level, I tried once and died pretty quickly.

Remember to collect all teh goodies on both floors before you leave, you can't go back in!

Oh, and his name's Bitores Mendez, the village chief!

Oh, hey, I'm stuck on this guy too (with no health and no shotgun shells....argh), so thanks for bumping this.

There's a merchant just down the road, buy some first aid sprays!  Plus, if you REALLY need shells, I think you get a free shotgun worth if you upgrade how much ammo it can hold

I didn't think it really mattered, since it was still on the main page. Gameplay forum is empty.

FURTHERMORE, I don't see how you can be out of shotgun shells, seeing as there are ten FREE ones right next to the merchant.  Also, in his second form, if you hit his claws with the shotgun just as he lowers right in front of you, he will immediatley fall, allowing you to get a couple more shotgun hits while he's on the ground, and potentially allowing you to easily get by the whole battle scar-free.

I'm playing him right now

Yeah, I forgot about those shotgun shells.

Oh, I beat him, hooray for me. I had to sell my handgun and red nine and spinel (spinel isn't good for anything, is it?) to get 2 health sprays, and I had to repeat like 10 times, but I did it. Yes, I suck.

See, I'm used to Nintendo games....where you get lots of health and ammo before each fight, where bosses are slow and easy, where what you have to do to succeed is clearly spelled out for you. This game is too hard!

Thanks for the advice KnowsNothing, btw.

Well, I wasn't checking the forum because there were no new posts.

Spinel's aren't good for anything except selling for a couple thousand pesas.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

This game, hard?
I die maybe once before I figure out exactly what to do, assuming I die at all.  Which is more annoying than difficult, because the second time around I beat it no sweat.  Just means I have to die and backtrack.
Metroid Prime 2 kicks my butt compared to this game, and I don't even die as often in MP2.  Dying is not equivalent to difficulty, in my opinion.  It was easier to live in MP2, but I got more of a beating.  I just had to retrace my steps less in MP2, thanks to that.
Does that make any sense?

MP2 was a pain in my butt, and not a good one.  The Fish boss and the boss where you have to shoot in the ass was a pain too.
