Nintendogs - 40/40 from Famitsu
« on: April 26, 2005, 01:23:18 AM »
Holy crap.. I didn't expect the game to be THIS good! Go to http://www.gamefront.de/ and scroll down a bit, they have a scan of the Famitsu review of Nintendogs, where it got perfect scores of 10/10/10/10 for a total of 40/40!

Have Nintendo found their next big franchise hit? I don't know, but I can't wait to play this game!

WOW. How many other games have got a perfect score from Famitsu? If this isn't fake, I'm impressed for sure. This could help the DS further edge out the PSP in Japan.

EDIT: I think this is the fifth. The other four were Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Soul Caliber and Vagrant Story.

I assume that's for all three versions as there is no real difference in gameplay.........but then again i guess it's about what type of dogs you like

And did i read that capcom confirms RE5 for PS3? IT BETTER NOT BE EXCLUSIVE!!

Is this the Nintendo devoted famitsu or the overall famitsu?

Awesome. Simply awesome. Nintendogs was one of the titles that sold the DS to me (Advance Wars was the other).

Funny thing is, I'm not much of a dog person (I'm a cat lover) - but those cute little puppies are just so damn irresistible!

Does anyone have any info regarding the US release? Everything I can find either says "TBA 2005", "Fall 2005" or "December 31, 2005"

--

Whenever someone suggests that I should trade in my DS towards the purchase of a PSP, I always think to myself "Yeah a PSP would be cool - but I wouldn't be able to play Nintendogs."

True Story.

Nintendogs for NDS = Poke'Mon for GBA

40/40 is something major indeed. Hopefully this will pan out into great sales, which means more support, which means better game for you and me.

Hmm Lik-sang has it for 50 bucks free shipping.  How much text is in this game?  Has anyone already imported it and received it?  Probably not...hmmm  its so tempting with no US release in site for at least 6 months.

From what I read over @ the Puppy Times Blog, there is a good amount of text to this game and since there's no faq yet it really isn't import friendly, well not yet anyway. Nintendo needs to make haste and bring this stateside not now but right now!!!! I WANT A BEAGAL NAMED SNOOPY TO PLAY WITH ON MY 13HOUR SHIFTS @ WORK.  This is a "real" mans game. You gotta be some kinda confident in yourself to work with guns and and play with puppies and giggle at the same time.

I haven't decided yet if this raises my opinion of Nintendogs or lowers my opinion of Famitsu.

Anyhoo this game is insanely cute and though I'm not really interested in it I can see the kind of huge appeal it could have.  This probably will be pretty popular and Nintendo realistically can make tons of sequels to it by making kitten, bunny, hamster, etc. versions of it.

I'd like to know what is up with NOA as it seems that every month Famitsu is giving some DS game a fantastic score and here in North America we still have nothing.  Why are there so many good DS games not released in North America yet?  This is completely unacceptable.  Did Bernie Stolar take over NOA of something?

I think they wanted you to stop whining about the DS's lack of potential.

This is a game I could see my sister going ga-ga over... in fact it should pretty much appeal to the same people as the Sims does.

Unfortunately Nintendo won't get the word out about this game and it'll sell more like Dogz.

So was PaLaDiN's crack about "Dogz", that had me rolling.

I'm looking forward to this now.  From what I've seen on the web this game looks pretty darn cool.  And those puppies are so darn cute...you're a good boy!  Yes you are!  Yes you are!  You're my little poochie-woochie!  Yes you are!

" I assume that's for all three versions as there is no real difference in gameplay.........but then again i guess it's about what type of dogs you like"

There is no difference in the three versions of the game, aside from which five of the fifteen dogs are available at the beginning of the game.  All fifteen dogs are in all three versions.

I'm really getting excited for Nintendogs, but it's likely going to cost me a LOT of money.  Why?  Because the moment my wife plays it, I'm going to have to get another DS and copy of Nintendogs just for her.

This idea doesn't flow.  What do Famitsu scores have to do with release schedules?  Should NOA base their localization choices soley on Famitsu scores?  If they did, how would that solve the release problem?  I mean, say Nintendogs in being localized right now, as I type.  Would it not take longer to come out if they waited for what Famitsu has to say?

I think Nintendo of America is saving their NA releases until after E3 so at the show they can make it look like the DS just has an avalanche of 1st party games along with a huge wave of 3rd parties.  It would be a great showing to the press if Nintendo had, like 20 first party games and like 80 third party games while the PSP struggles to be relevant with a handful of 3rd party games at the show and some after-thought first party game like "Daxter."  Just a theory.

I was just using Famitsu scores as an example of how the DS lineup has consistently been pretty good in Japan but remains weak in North America.  Why has the DS lineup remained so bland since launch in North America when there have been numerous good Japanese games released since then?  It doesn't make sense why NOA is taking so long to localize these titles.  The DS launched in North America FIRST but we're getting the games last.  Even Europe has had some games released before us.

I was shocked when I learned this. Aren't there only, like, 5 other games that got perfect scores? This is pretty big.

And all the Sony-loving-Nintendo-hating mainstreamers seem to  really be hating this news. They make snide remarks about it, saying "This is retarded, I already have a dog", and "The Japs love stupid games like this!".

But let's face it, pretty much the whole world loved all the few games they've given perfect scores, so why not this?

Also, by their logic, that would mean "Gran Turismo 4 is stupid because I already have a car", or Madden is stupid because I already play football".

No offense, but GT4 is stupid cause I already have a car.  However, I don't have a car that can spin around or shoot green shells, so F-Zero and Mario Kart are still cool.

Seriously though, I can't believe Nintendogs got a perfect score.  I'm really sad that this game doesn't interest me in the least.  However, Electroplankton seems really cool and it's also a "non-game".  Maybe I just haven't been paying enough attention to it.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Rick, I've asked Bloodworth this, but do you know how the other dogs are unlocked?  Is it a Pokemon like scenario, where you need to "meet" someone with the other version in order get the other dogs; or can one purchase all the dogs in the same version.

Note: this isn't only directed to Rick, if anyone else knows this, an answer would be appreciated.

As far as the Famitsu score: this just makes me want this game even more.  This game needs to be localized NOW.

Anyone know why Famitsu gave the game a perfect score? What about it impressed them so much? The graphics look good, but I'm not 100% clear on the gameplay so I'm interested to hear what they found so amazing in regards to it.

Perhaps it could be the unprecedented level of interactivity that Nintendogs provides.  The sims, while similar, mainly invovles you watching your Sims grow, completely detatched.  With Nintendogs, you can, like... pet your dog... and tell it... as in Speaking to it... to do stuff.

When you look at the other 40s you see 2 Adventure Games, an Action-RPG, and a fighting game.  Just because people aren't killing each other doesn't mean it isn't a game.

Nintendogs is a pretty nifty name.
