Assuming it doesn't come stateside, which it probably won't (I don't know about official news on this), I'm definitely going to import this.  It looks awesome, and I've recently really gotten into electronic music manipulation.  So, I'm looking forward to this one.

I'm with Hostile on this.  Does anyone know how English-friendly this game is?  I've never imported a game before, but this one might just be too weird to pass up.

I expect it to come stateside.  It was one of only 3 full demos shown at the GDC (a conference held in the US).  I guess plans could change but I don't see why they would have shown it if they weren't planning to release it here.

Edit: It does not, however, appear to have a section on Nintendo.com yet.  Hmm...

If we don't hear anything on it at E3 I'm losing all hope of a domestic release.

Yeah, if there isn't a date on this GAME (not "non-game"...If I can interact with it, it's a game) by E3 I'm definitely importing...From what I know, the only text is in the menu, so it's not a problem...(Unless you want to read the manual, then you're in trouble :tpg

More pictures. Shipped from PA on Wednesday, so... should be here by June.

I'd read the impressions thread previously linked. I don't expect it to ever be localized for any Western region, but think about that $50 first.

If an american version then those who have resgistered enough games could then buy it from nintendo.com. That way only those that are REALLY interested in the game could get and prevent an over-production of the game.

Is Jam with the Band being released locally?  If not I'll import both of those at the same time, get two music games at once
I'm seriously interested in this.  I hope both games are localized, mostly since I like to fully understand and appreciate my games, but I'll take an import if I have to.

Jam with the Band is the NA name. :¬] No release date, but whenever it does get here I'm sure they'll have sullied the game with cheaply licensed Western pop. Import for the good music.

Man... well, I guess we're not getting ElectroPlankton, but rather ElectroPlizzle Fo Shizzle.

Okay.  Yeah, I'd considered that.  I'm not sure, but if that's the case I'll just import then.

"Man... well, I guess we're not getting ElectroPlankton, but rather ElectroPlizzle Fo Shizzle"

That's Reggie speculating.  Who knows whether or not it'll go anywhere?  I'm not keeping my hopes up, and I'm ready to import, but I think that's less likely than Electroplankton coming over, personally.

hostile, get jam with the band in japanese.  Its awesome.  Elektroplankton is only 30 usd in japan (according to my almost reliable source), I'm trying to talk him into buying it hating it and giving it to me.

Its 'list' price is Â¥4800, or $44, the same as most other DS titles. Are stores already marking it down à la Feel the Magic?

As far as Reggie fo' Rizzle's Hip-Hop Hullabaloo.... I don't think he meant to say they would port or remake EP, but rather that if the DS were to see a music game it would be a sampling/rhythm game in touch with today's streetsmart youth/high school dropouts. Besides Jam with the Band, that is. Which is a Nintendo game that's going to be localized eventually. Forget about that, Reggie?

Liksang has it priced at about fifty dollars, and they have free shipping right now (not familiar with them, so I don't know if that'll last).  All their DS games are fifty bucks, so buying Band Brothers and Electroplankton would cost me a hundred overall.
What do you think the likelihood of the price dropping is?  And how soon would it happen?  I think I'll import both, but I don't want to pay that much.

It's not Nintendo, it's Pepsi.
Nintendo just doesn't have the big, fake breasts to flop around to sell Pepsi in America.
But it's not Nintendo's fault because that is the only way Pepsi knows how to sell their product here.

1up has a really good article on the Electroplankton art show in Tokyo.  I recommend checking it out.  It's a pretty good read.  Here are some of the better parts.

Quote

Iwai played with two DSes simultaneously while the video feeds were projected onto the wall. Given the strong random element of that plankton's output, Kuroda did an admirable job of adapting on-the-fly to Electroplankton's musical permutations.
Quote

After the performance, Iwai was joined on stage by two very special guests: Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.  Iwata talked about how everyone at Nintendo were big fans of Iwai's work, and that during the development of the DS hardware, Iwai's name often came up as someone who could take advantage of the machine in unique and interesting ways.
Quote

Iwai was candid about Electroplankton's reception, joking about the mixed and sometimes hostile reactions the software had received from internet message forums and even Nintendo's own internal debugging team.
