Why is I-Ninja bad?!
« on: February 20, 2005, 06:11:29 PM »
Ok, this has been bothering me today. Anyone who has played I-Ninja please read. Before the game even came out, I was kinda looking forward to it. I'm a big fan of platformers and it looked pretty different and fun.  When I got the game, a while ago, It was fun and everything but it seemed to just lack something. After a few days I got bored with it and havent played it again...until today.

I saw my little brother randomly playing it today and was intrigued. I looked at all the aspects of the game again and in the end...I really couldnt put my finger on what I don't like about it. I mean the graphics and art are beautiful, unique, and very stylistic. The gameplay and control seem great too. Theres classic hovering, double jumping and the such. Theres even newer things like running along walls, grappling, and wall jumping. As for lastability, every so often after killing enough baddies or beating enough levels, you get another sword or differently ranked headband. The music is just fine. I wouldnt buy the soundtrack or anything but its acceptable. Plus, have you seen the physics in this game? Really awesome.

So i really need some answers. This seems like my dream game. Can anyone tell me why the heck I dont like this game? Why was it such a flop? For the people who played it and stopped, why?

because namco stole my idea..its really weird...i was creating a charactercalled Game Ninja for my old video game website(he was supposed to do reviews). He was Blue, chibi..with a red bandana...looked like the spitting image of I-ninja. Anyways, they showed off I-Ninja and i just stopped working on it cus he was too close to what I-Ninja looked like.

Bad level design? That can kill many a game.

I dunno...the level design seemed pretty cool actually. The only thing I could think of now is maybe there wasnt enough character interaction. The reason this bothers me is really because I am an ameature game maker and while looking at all of the facts, this is a game that I would have definitely come up with. I even had some plans myself for the same type of game and even character style, Perm. I dunno, I'd just like to know why this game kinda flopped. I mean, I dont think im the only one that quit the game early like that.

It was released during the holiday rush in december  2003  and it got buried by all the other big games that was released same thing happened for PoP 1 and Beyond Good and Evil that season.

You just got bored with it.  Even if everything in the game is developed well, it can still turn out far less than the sum of its parts.

I'm not sure what else we can tell you  You're asking us why YOU think something....

I absolutley adore this game. Simple and fun! Yes, fun! Something that most devs have forgotten. It's all about blood and gore and mature. It might have been a flop financially, but a great game, IMO.

I actually thought the idea of mixing Ninja Gaiden with Gombare Goemon in a platformer was a genious idea. The game rocked in my opinion.
I really don't have anything to put here right now.

*Ganbare Goemon*

I always wanted to try it because I thought it might be something like Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, a very good game that was shot down by reviews.

Maybe you don't like angry people.
Or it could be the premise (spelling?).
