Wowzers.
Kind of dissapointing that Jump Superstars is trailing so much, but, apart from that, Nintendo for the win. Who would've thought a rerelease of SMB, a tamagocchi game, and Brain Training would do so well? (I'd make a point about Nintendo possibly getting the wrong message from this, but then I'd sound too much like Ian).

Well, it HAS been out for quite a while now... And it's still in the top 10, so I'm sure it's sold it's share of copies. I know that the first 2 shipments were all sold out, so it still did well.

DS kicking ass when it hasn't had any releases in like the past 2 weeks, PSP had about 5 new releases last week alone. There's another huge week for the DS coming up on October 20, with Super Princess Peach, Pokemon Touruze (whatever its called), Tendo Dokuta 2 and Where Do Babies Come From?.

Also, something important to note is the huge increase in Xbox sales was due to Ninja Gaiden Black entering the top 50. Sales should cool down back into the double digits next week, after a pretty big week for Microsoft.

J Allard: Awesometastic! How much ass are kicking down there?
lowly Microsoft employee: Well, so far, we've sold... nine.
J Allard: Nine.....thousand?
Lowly Microsoft employee: No. Just nine.

I doubt MS is going to ship many 360's to Japan, though the funny thing would be if they shipped only a few hundred and had them all sell out in like five minutes and have a lot of people get angry about not getting one, they'd end up kicking themselves for not shipping more.

Well, online import stores would simply buy those 360s from Japan and sell them to customers in the United States.

Well this is lollable...I heard from somewhere that most stores in Japan are dropping all Xbox-related stuff the second 360 launches...looks like Japanese sales may actually be lower, seeing as it'll be harder to find the 360 than the original...

Why? It would be odd to turn down the Xbox 360 before it even launches when stores have kept in stock the poor selling Xbox for so long, unless they signed an agreement with Microsoft for the first system, or another contract type of situation.

Media Create 3 - 9 October

1. PS2 Dragonball Z Sparking! - Bandai - 326,000 (new)
2. GBA Famicom Mini: Super Mario Brothers - Nintendo - 40,000 (322,000)
3. NDS Tamagotchi no Petit Petit Omisetchi - Bandai - 31,000 (267,000)
4. NDS Nou wo Kitaeru Otona no DS Training - Nintendo - 17,000 (630,000)
5. PS2 Shin Sangoku Musou 4 Moshouden - Koei - 17,000 (299,000)

9. PSP Winning Eleven 9 Ubiquitous Evolution - Konami - 9,000 (157,000)
10. GBA Mushiking - Sega - 9,000 (569,000)

More domination! The consistant selling power of these NDS games and Super Mario Bros is crazy. Jump Superstars, Nintendogs, Phoenix Wright, Mario Tennis Advance & Doctor Mario/PanelDePon are all selling solidly in the top 20 too. Wario Ware Touched also pops back into the top 20 in the daily charts every few days.

DS hasn't had any significant new releases for a while, but next week Super Princess Peach, Where Do Babies Come From? (Project Rub 2), Pokemon Touruze and some other DS games that are slipping my mind come out, should be pretty big.

EDIT: Oh yeah and Gunstar Super Heroes debuted that week, but it tanked horribly. Probably only sold about 3,000 copies, if that.

Games with 'gun' in the title aren't big Japanese market candidates.

So...any bets on Mario Kart's sales in week one? And the DS's system sales that week?

Thinking about it this is going to be one sad year for the PSP in Japan. It's not like North America where it will at least have Grand Theft Auto. There's like no major hits on the horizon and the DS has probably the best selling handheld title of the year coming up. Plus Animal Crossing, Mario and Luigi, Children of Mana...etc.
