When the PSP sells 36 million units it'll be doing as good as the N64.

Why do people think the N64 was a big flop?

So, what's the monthly sellthrough worldwide for DS and PSP? That would make a much better comparison.

I have the japanese sales from the beggining, If you want US sales, you're gonna have to compile the data yourself for now(long search through this thread for NPD data), but its better than nothing

GBM     170,306
DS    72,167
PSP    70,152
PS2    24,396
GBASP    11,147
GC    1,882
GBA    624
Xbox    109

Those are the officials. I'd say it's likely the PSP will never top the charts again. Ouch.

OK...with who is the PSP competing here again... the DS? getting its ass kicked....the GBM? can just overcome it ....but if you take combined numbers off al only-GBA-based hardware ( GBA, GBASP and GBM) it's getting its ass kicked again.
I like Nintendo's 2 and half to one advantage here, it gives the amount off asskicking the PSP is getting in Japan...Xbox sales are intresting too... I wonder, are they buying them as gameconsoles or as teatables that can play DVD's?

Oh yes, 60% of all Japanese hardware sales are Nintendo portables.... jeezs...

Well I have no doubt that it's entirely 'enthusiast' if not 'hardcore' gamers buying the Xbox at this point. They're probably modding them into something more useful, also.

You're so insecure about yourself you have to go around on internet message boards picking out when people say good instead of well? I pity you.

On a slightly silly note, the GameFaqs poll today is rather interesting. It asks people which October release they're most anticipating. Normally I discount the GameFaqs polls for any true reading, but Castlevania: DS is beating GTA: LS by 8% for top spot. This is odd because GTA has been in the top 10 faqs since it came out on the PS2, and a Castlevania game isn't even in the top 50. Odd.

When people nit pick over things like that during conversation it tends to be a pet peeve, but to go into a message board where you're not talking at a constant pace and do it shows an obsession with the criticism of others. Obsessive critics tend to be so as a distraction for their own insecurities. Freud, for example...

So you discount GameFAQs when it doesn't line up with your preconceived notions, but when it does you pay attention?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Not at all. I said "on a slightly silly note". I thought it was interesting because usually the polls are predictable. If you notice I didn't say that meant it would sell better than GTA.

Or should I just refrain from posting interesting things in the future?
