i don't believe the 2 cloned and ported psp GTA titles sold nearly as well as the original 3. And theres the fact that 1 of those clones hasn't been sold on the ps2 yet. so that would be 4 not 5.

I'm betting attach rates on Xbox are high, maybe not quite as high on PS2 simply because it has a large casual fanbase that might own fewer games, but...who knows?

GameCube really isn't a failure, at least business-wise.  It's a disappointment because it lost customers compared to N64 and even failed to beat Xbox, but I bet it still made a decent profit for Nintendo.  Xbox is more of a failure in that respect: sure it came in second, but it lost billions of dollars.

Edit: Game-wise, I think GameCube's final year has been a failure, and 2005 was surprisingly weak too (though not nearly as bad as some make it out to be).  The first-party software was also worse than N64 in some cases but I think the system's lineup was better than N64 overall simply because of better third party support.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Does this include the Mario sports games and Mario Party games in those 193 million?  If not, then that is impressive (of course, a good chunk of those were the original SMB packed in with the NES)

Yes. By Media Create's numbers, DSL's 39 weeks have passed lifetime sales for the GBASP.

Probobly, since there's supposed to be 400,000 Wii's at launch.  Of course I can't wait to see the top 10, since it's going to be all Nintendo.  Actually every top 10 for the next several months are going to be all Nintendo since PS3 shipments are still going to be very low and the PSP is no where to be seen.

Well I expect a PS2 game to appear everyonce in a while, and then drop off a week later.

>> Worldwide +
>> DS Hardware: 26.82 million units
>> DS Software: 103.60 million units

All I can say is WOW! These would be great numbers for the life of a system, never mind just 2 years.
I'm thinking it'll reach 100+ million units and 400+ million software sales when it's finally discontinued.
Not bad for what was once called a "gimmicky" system.

So you're thinking that it will reach 4x as many units sold but only 4x as much software sold? I think thats an underestimation. At 4x the hardware sold I would expect around 10x the software sold, if current buying trends stay the same.

I have to say that the Gamecube numbers are wow.  Especially considering a large part of those sales are first party.  More so then there other systems.  Which means in the end Nintendo was still making a ton of money off the third place cube.  Even with a much smaller share then the handhelds.

Yes, I probably was low on the estimate software sales, and just shows how impressive the DS has been in terms of sales.

I'm not sure of where to keep track of this stuff anymore...

Famitsu 11/27 - 12/03

1. Tales of Destiny (PS2) - 250k/NEW
2. Wii Sports (Wii) - 170k/NEW
3. Wii Play (Wii) - 170k/NEW
4. The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess (Wii) - 140k/NEW
5. Final Fantasy VI Advance (GBA) - 140k/NEW
6. Summon Night 4 (PS2)
7. Pokeman Pearl/Diamond (NDS)
8. Jump Ultimate Stars (NDS)
9. Love and Berry DS (NDS) - 70k/500k
10. Made in Wario: Smooth Move (Wii)

Hardware:
Wii - 370k
NDSL - 180k
PS3 + PS2 + PSP = 78k

Supposedly, thanks to the release of the Wii, the DS drought has taken a break, atleast for that week.

LOLipop.  I'm disappointed that Nintendo didn't take the entire top 10 but I guess that's to be expected with the popular PS2 getting some big games in time for the holidays.

Edit: Just noticed, unless 360 and PS3 combined sold about 40,000 units this week, Wii pwns both of them put together.
That's my opinion, not yours.

I think BD could do much better than that (pushing 100,000) and upwards of 50,000 systems, but it'll be a very quick drop after that.

And how beautiful it is to see a Nintendo console top the chart ANYWHERE in the world once again...

I'm shocked at how powerful the DS has become in EVERY market. It is the number 1 selling system in every single market, AND BY ALOT. No measly 20k difference, we are talking like 100k to 300K.

I know, and so does everyone else here, that the DS games are great, but i can't help but think is that really the pushing factor? The DS phat didn't sell nearly this well. was it all just because of the looks, or did people really hold out that long for a lite?

Also, anyone have any stats to know if the gba or original gameboy sold this well ever? (over the DS life span of 2 years, not over all)
