NAL To Release Two More For Australia
« on: January 17, 2005, 11:44:00 PM »
Nintendo's Australian branch will be bringing out Project Rub and Resident Evil 4 to Australian gamers.

Nintendo Australia has sent information confirming that they will be releasing Sega's Project Rub (also known as 'Feel the Magic: XY/XX' in the US) for the Nintendo DS and Capcom's Resident Evil 4 for the Nintendo GameCube.  Unfortunately, there aren't many specific details at this stage aside from the confirmation that NAL will be releasing them in March.

It's good to see that Nintendo's getting Project Rub released near the Australian DS launch, as the game's an excellent showcase of the system's features.  Aussie Resident Evil fans will probably be relieved to actually get a date for the game, as opposed to just having to wait and see if it will come out as it has been in some cases.

More details are expected soon, so we'll be sure to let you know of any further details as soon as we receive them.

Good to see Project Sexual Harassment getting a release here eventually. And Resident Evil 4, which by all accounts is awesome.

I'll hold my breath for the "OLOL WE'RE DELAYING THEM" press release between now and then ;____;

YES!!! So this means Nintendo Australia are publishing them both? YES YES YES this is great, now they'll be available and we don't have to rely on some crappy third party to sell them for $100000 each in limited supply. This also means RE4 might be advertised, and it BETTER be.

I hate to ask dumb questions, but how does international publishing work? Was Capcom not going to release it down under, so NAL scooped in and basically said "We'll foot the bill (mate)."?

Props to NAL though, it seems they're turning over the proverbial leaf, given their history of blunders.

It also insures that RE4 will be GC-only in AussieLand...

Capcom don't exist here, so THQ releases Capcom games for us, and they overcharge and release games in limited quantities, although admittedly they are one of the best third party publishers here still, and not as bad as ATARI.

Nintendo games are more widely distributed and $99 at maximum. I was forced to pay $110 for RE0. That's pretty much the only thing NAL is good at, getting games on shelves. They may be months late, but oh well.

Not really - Soul Calibur II was published by Nintendo for the GameCube here, and by a third party (THQ?  Atari?  I forget) for the other two systems.  I imagine that the same thing will happen here.  All it does, as other people have said, is ensure that the game will be coming out for the GameCube in Australia.  Which is nice.

Wooo, a GC Resident Evil game that won't be $110 and vanish a month later! Distributing Project Rub's a bit of an odd move, though. THQ usually do a pretty damn good job getting Sega titles out on the market. Oh well, whatever. It'll be miiiine in March. ALL MINE, YOU CANNOT HAVE IT BECAUSE I WILL BUY EVERY COPY WITH MY MONOPOLY MONEY.

Mayfair.

Monaco has been listing Project Rub for a month or so - with a March release - though they still call it Feel the Magic.

It's good that RE4 is getting treated decently; I think it will appeal to the casual gamers here more so than anything else for the Cube so far. NAL have really been quite good recently, with MP2 and PM2 both recieving good launches. Did merely the threat of a visit from Iwata work?
