Take a look at what's coming for DS, GameCube and GBA for the first half of 2005.

Today, Nintendo of America announced the official release schedules for its three platforms through Q2 2004 (April-June). As always, the list is subject to change as new games are announced and announced games are delayed.

Polarium is the localized version of One Line Puzzle in Japan...

As for me, this is an excellent lineup...Up to April there are probably 2 games a month I'll want...What a pain...

Have you ever noticed that really major GBA titles often come out around the same time as really major Cube titles? Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion, Wind Waker and Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, and in this case RE4 and Minish Cap. I can't think of any other specific examples but I know I've had other times where I've had to choose between the two. Considering all this push for the two systems to compliment each other with connectivity you would assume they would allow the release schedules to compliment each other better. It's a minor complaint since there's nothing preventing me from playing a game at a later date but it's something I've noticed.

By the end of this year, we'll have Advance Wars on GBA, GameCube, and DS. It is kind of weird if you know the naming convention in Japan (Famicom Wars, 64 Wars, etc.), but Advance Wars was the first game in the series released in America, and it was extremely successful, so it makes some sense to keep the name and turn it into a brand for the whole franchise.

I noticed that the the release lists game titles for games that will be out much later, like the Zelda Cube and such. I think this is because Nintendo wants to remind people they will be out.

I expect most of those DS games listed without a date to be end summer, fall, and winter releases...

Some interesting games coming out. I am waiting for Wario Ware, because its the only game interesting me that will be out for the DS.

Jan: The Minish Cap
February: Star Fox Assault, maybe Warioware
March: Yoshi Touch & Go, maybe Jungle Beat
Other (Q2/Spring): Killer 7, Fire Emblem, maybe Geist
And of course Zelda, maybe Hunters and maybe maybe Advance Wars.

the last announcement/pr also said Zelda for the GC will be release (hmmm, i don't remember but I think it said June) I won't get my hopes up though.

Considering the thrifty launch line-up I would have liked to see more DS games in the first half, but maybe Nintendo is saving some as ammunition against PSP after it's launch date is announced. I can wish!

Otherwise, looks really good. I don't even think the DS schedule is bad, I just thought Nintendo actually had some sort of plan when it only launched one first party game with the system! I will definitely be buying Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and I'll probably grab a DS with Yoshi's Touch n' Go and maybe Wario Ware sometime in the spring.

Ouch... things are looking sparse on the DS. It would have been nice to have a big game for it to compete with the PSP launch. (And no, I don't consider "Yoshi Touch & Go" to be a big title)

Then you suck, that game will be absolutely awesome. But yeah, the DS lineup is pretty crap outside Wario and Yoshi, where the hell are all the games Nintendo?

What do we even know about Yoshi Touch & Go? I'm interested in it because it resembles Yoshi's Island but I don't really know much about it. Is it a full on 2D platformer or is it just a gimmick game? I think we need some more solid previews about it before we can declare if it's a "big title" or not.

Nintendo really has to work on that DS lineup. All those third party titles are bleh and those Q1/Q2 first party titles don't look like they could attract an audience beyond the core Nintendo fanbase. Meanwhile the PSP lineup is looking to provide a similiar variety that the Playstation brand is associated with. The PSP lineup isn't perfect but it's got something for everyone. Sure the DS is selling really well anyway because of the "GBA successor" vibe but how long will that last? The N64 sold really well initially because of the "SNES successor" vibe but lost out to the Playstation because it just didn't have the games. The DS currently doesn't have the games and I hope this isn't a preview of the Revolution launch.

It's really too bad because the DS is a really well designed system for the most part and deserves a really solid lineup.

IGN just recently posted updated impressions from CES. It's very arcade-y in terms of design, at least that's the impression one gets. Half of the game consists of Baby Mario falling like in the demo, the other half involves Yoshi walking at a forced rate across the ground. The game is set up to have multiple difficulty levels, and even if you die, you can apparently still continue on to the later levels.

Some kind of multiplayer will supposedly be included, as well.

Thanks for telling me about the IGN impressions. Reading those the game doesn't sound all that interesting to me. It sounds like it could be fun but when I saw the resemblance with Yoshi's Island I was initially considering to be a potential system seller for me. After reading those impressions though there's no way I would buy a DS for it unless some huge chunk of the game has been hidden from the press until now. I'm leaning towards "not a big title". It sounds more like a piece of a game than a full title.

I think Touch & Go looks to be a good game, it just isn't a huge system seller like Pokemon, Halo, Super Smash Brothers or GTA.

What DS really needs is that one killer RPG that rivals the SNES greats like Final Fantasy III and Chrono Trigger. Not that games of that calibre come along every day, but an RPG like that would really push the DS over the top.

Resident Evil 4 should kill at least a month for me until StarFox Assault. Same with Minish Cap.

I checked on some stuff about Virtua Quest; this long-awaited supposed-to-be-exclusive got some bad reviews; what the bloody hell happened to it? Its a shame though, but looks like I'll pass it up.

A hunch tells me that MK

eception will be gutted of its online component, thus leading to bad reviews. How well it'll be ported, time will tell, we'll see if they took the extra time to make a good port...

I'm curious if Splinter Cell will be the last game that won't be "EA-ified", with them having a nice chunk of them and all.

Killer 7? Anyone's guess... anyone make sense what it is after all this time? All I've got is that its hard-boiled action meets film noir. Some shooting segments are there too...

Another Fire Emblem for the GBA, but none for the 'Cube for the 1st half? Hmmm...

I think a Golden Sun game could achieve that sort of quality, as long as Camelot have learned from their mistakes with the previous games. GS had pretty neat and (as far as I'm aware) original puzzles, I'd love to see what they could do with the touch screen. Does anyone here know what Camelot is working on right now?
