Does anyone else hate Minish Cap like me?
« on: January 07, 2005, 06:31:44 PM »
I played the EURO game of Zelda Minish Cap. I really wanted to like the game, but it was so freaking boring.  The world is actually REALLY small, It feels smaller than links awakening, a 10 year of gameboy zelda.

This game has the worst freaking graphics.  They are so kidish.  The puzzles are so much crap, they aren't hard at all.  I only found a few parts difficult where I had to find certain uhhhh well I don't want to have spoilers, and one part where I didnt' know where the heck to bomb.  But that wasn't even in the dungeons.  Even the bosses were lame.

And the nintendo.ca website said this about minish cap

"The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap is one of Link's most challenging adventures yet!"

pppphhhh YEAH RIGHT.   Don't buy this game, at the most rent it.

I don't trust the reviews of gamers who use any term like "kiddish"...You're not all big, bad, and mature for making fun of toon-styled games...

LOL MINISH CAP MORE LIKE MINISH CRAP MORE LIKE KIDDISH CRAP AM I RITE?

I'm glad to hear it's shorter and less huge than other Zelda's, games like LttP just dragged on and on for TOO LONG and bore the hell out of me before I can complete them. Sounds fun, thanks for the impressions, I might get this now.

OOKKK... instead of kiddish, they lack any significant graphical detail.  Go ahead and enjoy this crap game that is way too easy.  Nintendo will just keep making more crappy games, and won't make good games if people still play these.

Zelda used to be a good games, but even that is now suffering with nintendo's terrible tiku tiku tiku!  management.  But I guess they are making money and are more concerned about that right now.

It's not as graphically detailed as the upcoming Zelda on GC? Man, that sucks. What are Nintendo thinking?

eh, i like it, of couse i'd like it if it were a freaking zelda kart racer, but oh well. i find the art so so, i keep seeing little quirks in the sprites and i wonder why it was left to slide. but i'm still enjoying it, at this moment i just entered the second dungeon.

Lol, you guys. Leave the poor kid alone, he thinks Minish Cap is kiddish looking, and even if he has poor taste doesn't mean you have to mock him. Though it is quite funny, so maybe I don't mind it as much .

I have no idea but reading that always reminds me of that "Mario Twins" flash video.

I know this is kind of late.  But I just got the game yesterday.  I just finished (just put down my DS in fact) the second dungeon, and I love the game.  The atmosphere is great, the story is one of the better Zelda stories in a while.  It's just flat out good.

Got it as well today...I couldn't put it down at all, and the only thing that could make me was a bladder about to burst... <_<

Definitely my favorite GBA title, and Marin is now bracing for attack because this is also definitely coming close to my treasure that is known as Link's Awakening... 10/10

It feels rather...short. Usually you'd spend hours in these dungeons, but many of the puzzles are rather...simple...compared to other Zeldas.

In my opinion, its a step backward from Capcom's previous new Zelda titles. The heck happened?

What the hell?  I think this game is loads better than the Oracle games, which I also love...There's definitely the feeling of more to do that isn't story-related...Maybe it's just because I stack more importance on sidequests...

The game starts out kind of slow, but after a while it gets fun.

My only problem with it is the sound effects, and well, I've never been a huge fan of the GBA.  But alas, it is Zelda.

I played through the first 3 dungeons and I thought for a Zelda game it was okay at best. I thought there was waaaay too much NPC interaction. Also, alot of the music, as nice as it was, just didn't sound like Zelda music, (though the tracks that did did a great job). It just didn't feel like an old school Zelda game to me... and I guess that's where I'm at fault: I was expecting an ALttP-style game and it turned out to be more of a 2D Wind Waker. Now that's not a bad thing, but I look to my GBA as a place to play the franchises like I did 10-15 years ago. I was hoping for Minnish Cap to be to A Link to the Past as Metroid Zero Mission is to Super Metroid or Megaman Zero is to Megaman X or Aria of Sorrow is to Symphony of the Night, etc... also, it doesn't help that it wasn't developed by Nintendo.

But then again, this is coming from the guy that took 6 years to finally appreciate Ocarina of Time... I'm sure if I give Minnish cap more time I'll learn to love it... I was just rubbed the wrong way by my first impression of the game. I would still kill for a Nintendo-developed 2D Zelda though... I guess my heart is still stuck in the "Now You're Playing with Power" and the "Play it Loud" days of Nintendo.

Funny that. I've grown to really hate Ocarina of Time now. After all this time, I've finally come to the conclusion that it's the absolute worst overrated Zelda game ever, and it doesn't deserve any of that unnecessary praising it's gotten from Nintendo fanboys everywhere over the recent years.

I totally agree with it being overrated and it's definitely in the lower half of my favorite Zelda games... but after giving it a chance it's definitely not as bad as I thought it was when it first came out... but I'll pick Adventure of Link over it any day of the week.

I thought there was waaaay too much NPC interaction.

I can't tell you how much this depresses me...There is NO such thing as too much NPC interaction...

I was expecting an ALttP-style game and it turned out to bet more of a 2D Wind Waker. Now that's not a bad thing, but I look to my GBA as a place to play the franchises like I did 10-15 years ago.

And if it were such it would be attacked for being more of the same...Ninty can't win

I would still kill for a Nintendo-developed 2D Zelda though

Don't expect it...Flagship is Ninty's Zelda 2d baby, though Aonuma is playing a more active part in the DS version...

I dunno, there was so much dialogue that at times it felt like playing a Square-Enix RPG... and yeah I agree people would complain if it was "more of the same"... the big N can't please everyone... but it's not so much that I'm complaining or that I hate this game or anything, it's alot of fun... but when compared to my Zelda favorites, it just doesn't rank all that high in my opinion.

It is good to hear that Aonuma will be more involved with the DS game, though.
