Stuck on Metroid Prime 1
« on: December 30, 2004, 01:03:00 AM »
Some how i seem to have gotten myself suck right near the start of this game...

I'm on the Tallon overworld and I need to either re-find my grapple beam, find the spiderball upgrade or get some kind of heat-proof thingamy so I can access magmar caverns... I have no idea where to find any of these... any help for a rubbish gamer like myself?

Edit:

My bad, I really thought he just arrived on Tallon IV, then I remembered you need Missiles to open the Magmoor Transport door... I think...

Anyway, yes, assuming he already has the Missiles and Morph Ball, he has to "finish" the rest of Chozo Ruins.  Use the Morph Ball passage from the "first big room" in Chozo Ruins (above the bridge/half-pipe, beneath the War Wasp nests) to make your way to the Arboretum.

Ah I was stuck there too. Made me not want to buy the game (until I found a cheap new/sealed non-players choice pal version of the game for cheaper than the players choice locally).
Without giving away anything, you do need a 'heat proof thingy'. Follow your map and head to the Arboretum (it's the round room of polluted water with those vine-like creatures that come out of the wall and attack you when you get too close and a big tree in the middle). Follow the platforms up...

(or I may be wrong as Professional seems to be refering to something different)

Hope this helps

It sounds like you stumbled into a room which will contain goodies once you have the appropriate gear.  Metroid is a game where you have access to many things at the beginning, but don't have the gear to take advantage of it.  Yes you need to find the grapple beam and a "heat proof"-thing, but you still have a ways to go.  Just keep at it-The hint system helps a lot.

This isn't really related, but check this out. I couldn't get 100% completion in my copy of Metroid Prime, because of a non-existent missile upgrade. I forget the name of the level, there's a huge icecicle that you have to break to get to a grappling point in the middle of the room, then launch across and get the missile. The grapple point didn't ever appear, but I figured out another way to get to the missiles - but the missiles also were not there, even though I could scan where they should be and the game told me it was a missile upgrade. Wierd, huh?

If you were to truley earn fist you should be able to finish the game without any upgrades, or even the space suit for that matter. Don't believe the games rubbish taht you cant access various areas, jsut think about earning fist.
