Topic: NTSC/PAL compatibility question

I'm thinking of buying a Gamecube for my husband in the US, but we live in Germany. I can play NTSC DVDs on my PAL television in Germany. Does anybody know then if it's safe to assume that an NTSC Gamecube should work with my television? This probably sounds like an obvious question, but you can never be too safe.

Yeah it will work fine, you can buy your extra controllers and memory cards locally aswell. All your games will have to come from the US however, unless you get a Freeloader.

Almost all TVs support NTSC here. The problem is that PAL games won't work on a US Gamecube so you'll need to use the Freeloader on any game purchased locally which means you always have to do some disc switching before you can play. Believe me when I say "Das geht einem derb auf die Eier".

Well, I live in Germany too, and its never a problem for me. NTSC compatible TVs are available for 250€, and getting the games isnt difficult either, in fact, I never even used a freeloader.
I get all my games on dvdboxoffice.com, takes about 6-8days to ship to Hamburg, and due to the crappy value of the dollar, its really cheap (less than 40€, free shipping).

If you want to get games used, just look on ebay.de, theres a ton of import freaks trying to get rid of older NTSC games.
