Get real.  Square could sell dog crap if they labelled it with the Final Fantasy name and included a CD with a bit of FMV.  I am sure that the game will sell to millions of little Square fanboys.    I know a few Sony/Square fanboys who are buying a GameCube just for this game.

lol you do have a point there, but if anybody labeled a game and said it had Good Graphics all the Xbox fanboys would go crazy over it and start talking smack about other systems.

Well, I'm not sure about the dog crap...

I'm pretty sure both Square *and* Nintendo realize that releasing a game that requires 3 friends and an extra $280 or $400 investment wouldn't sell well at all.  So I'd assume there most definitely would be a way to play, at the very least, 1 player w/o a gameboy (as there's no reason to hide stats then).

That said, the Secret of Mana game that made it out in the US had a very elegant menu system that never obscured the gamefield and still had a wide variety of items available.  It wouldn't surprise me if FF:CC used a system similar to rings in order to keep the screen uncluttered and to keep down on programming time.

That likely means that there aren't a million different items that all do slightly similar things, but rather a few key items used for specific purposes.  I personally liked the SoM way of dealing with items.  Especially since most of the items in Final Fantasy games accumulate simply because you get better items but think that maybe you'll find a use for that old item because it has some special power until you beat the game and find that you just never used it again after all.  I like Golden Sun's approach to items -- small items can be grouped up to 30, and large items are separate, and each player can hold a set amount.  It makes you really think about what you want to keep and where you want to keep it.  And it's certainly a bit more realistic...

actually mario sunshine wasn't seen as a big enough step up from mario 64 and it hasn't sold
well compared to Nintendo Gamecubes other major franchises

someone made a comment about the story being drivel, i would have to disagree,
the whole thing about the poisonous mist and all sounds very intriguing

You are missing my point.  It would be COLLECTORS dog crap, and would be a vital part of anyone's Final Fantasy collection.  You could say that it came from Interceptor or something.

It looks like you will have to have multiple GBA to play multi player
Single player can have a regular controller.

Yes it does.  It smells like crap.  But explain to me the popularity of Final Fantasies 8 and 9 if you think I am wrong.  Those game just sucked, but people bought them and loved them.

I just wan't to say something quick.  I haven't liked a Final Fantasy game since Final Fantasy 7, yet after playing FF:CC for 5 minutes I was hooked.  I know it's not a traditional FF game, but it plays great and I'm really excitied about it.

As for the popularity of FF8+9, that will always be a mystery to me.   Especially after suffering through the horrible ending of FF8.

Just my two cents
