Ummm... DS + Warppipe Crew = ????

I've been peeking around on the net and there's some rumors about what's going on with the crew that developed the Warppipe software for the PC.

For those who don't know, Warppipe was a great program written (as freeware) that one could run on his/her PC, connect his/her GCN to the PC and plan "LAN-Only" games over the internet - thus making the GCN "online"... (No debates about GCN/online and such, please...)

Well... Long story short, check out this thread (http://forums.warppipe.com/viewtopic.php?t=11400&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 ).  I think that pretty much sums it all up.. It's an interesting read, to say the least...

Any thoughts?

So ummm... basically, the guys from Warp Pipe have been working behind-the-scenes with Nintendo, and now they have something ultra-stupendous that they're just dying to reveal, but they aren't allowed to do it, so they're dropping strangely-photoshopped pics all over message boards, and making a bunch of nonsensical typos, hoping that someone figures out a pattern to their madness?

It seems that Warp Pipe is going to be in charge of the "online" side of the NDS, but somehow it's gonna be even more and better than just that.

And it won't be revealed on October 7 with Nintendo's press conference announcing the NDS launch titles, but will be revealed midway through the month.

I think I'll just wait for the actual news.

I figured that AOL would be incharge of just about anything that nintendo does online.

Warp Pipe is just going to bring LAN gaming online officially, nintendo isn'ts stupid enough to allow them full reign of the "online" side of anything.

Someone do me a favor and tell me what is fact.  I don't care about speculation I want to know what's true and what's not.  It would be real funny if Warp pipe didn't really have anythng to do with DS.  All of your hopes and dreams shattered.

Syl: No, AOL merely licensed their weird protocol to Nintendo. If any of those companies is involved it's Gamespy, but I'd doubt that.

the gamersmark article has been refuted and the people there have officially appologized for jumping the gun on incorrect information. All we know is, thats NOT it.

Seriously though, this is the next MEGATON.

They shouldn't be hyping people up like this. Even if it is something pretty amazing, people already have a certain expectation set in their minds as it what it is, and will probably be disappointed regardless of how great it is.

I'm just going to ignore all this until something concrete is announced.

I agree, but chad has assured us on several occasions that we'll be happy with what happens. It's supposed to revolutionize multiplayer gaming...supposedly. We'll see though...

The new hints are making it sound as though there will be a worldwide community available for wireless gaming through the DS somehow.  Maybe P2P?

Assuming this is all true, there is no way it could be based off of the proprietary wireless thats included in the system.  This brings up to question as to why the proprietary wireless is there at all?  P2P over WiFi wouldn't require a central hub...

Again, that wouldn't make any sense what-so-ever...Why push for wireless gaming and then have wired gaming also?...Plus, it would only make the system bigger...
