pre-ordering ds and new zelda (gba)
« on: September 23, 2004, 12:33:49 PM »
i just put 5$ down on a DS at electronics botique... oh wait, it's call eb games now haha, anyway just wondering if this is stupid of me and how many others have done the same? and i will be sitting outside the store when i get it waiting for it to alert me that someone else has one near me.  i really hope that somehow when minish cap comes out i will beable to use it's multiplayer function (kinstones or whatever) with the ds, i know it's allready been stated that the ds will only be able to play single player gba games, but it's not impossible, esp. with this being released after the ds.

I'm waiting. Waiting for the launch lineup. I won't preorder it, makes no sense to me. Maybe it'd be smarter to drop the money on a PSTwo now and wait a bit until getting the DS so I won't get affected by any potential post-launch droughts.

Yeah, that PSTwo looks pretty hot. Im curious if it will have any compatibility issues with some games and peripherals, but nevertheless I wouldnt mind one of those over my El Monolithico model.

The DS is looking pretty juicy...but I myself will likely wait until games such as Mario Kart and Advance Wars hit.
Or Castelvania, in which case I will buy it in a heartbeat. Wonder if theyre going to put together any sexy color combos...

Blackknight: The thing has even more value to someone like me who never owned any Playstation device whatsoever (well, my sister has a controller for a PS1 lying around, she apparently "forgot" to give t back to one of her friends).

It won't support the Sony HDD, and ps2.ign.com reports that some software won't work on the new, redesigned PSTwo.

And back on topic, I'm waiting until the games that are launching with the system are announced to pre-order my DS so I can score a bundle from EBGames (like I did with the GCN--Now that brings back memories).

Hahaha, no. I guess you would've asked Bill, too, if he had a more nondescript name... Only reason I have Rinoa as my avatar is because I made a model of her for UT2004.

I put for 46.75.  Why that number?  Well  since I havent played my GBA in a long while and since I mostly play at home anyways, I might as well trade it in for some credit before the value goes down after alot of people start trading, and after the iminent price-drop after DS's release.  Besides, if I feel like playing any GameBoy games between now and the 21st, I always have my GameBoy Player.

GameStop did have a pretty big book of NDS reserves...

I will buy a GBA again in the future because the DS does not have a GC connect and I own Four Swords and some other GCN~GBA games.  I bought my GBA SP at release, so platinum was my only choice.  This way I will have my choose of colors...

I'm real low on cash at the moment, so thats why I've gone this route...

I paid in full for my Nintendo DS at EB Games in Canada.  199.95+ tax.  The guy kept calling it 'gameboy dual screen.'  It made me want to clobber him.  Figures - he was wearing an X-box shirt.  Most employees at that EB wear Gamecube shirts.

You get $46.75 for a regular GBA at Gamestop? Not bad...

Pre-ordered mine a few weeks back- I think I put like $25 down on the DS and $9 on Metroid Prime 2...they wouldn't let me pre-order Mario 64 DS yet. I'll put the money down on that when I go pick up Metroid.

November is going to be expensive...

I preordered mine from gamestop.com months back and am not out any money until they ship it to me and charge my credit card.  Also the games aren't that expesive, at 29.99 they are the same as almost all GBA games, excluding Nintendo's as they like to sell theirs for 34.99.

ooh, i didn't think about trading in my white GBA for credit twards my DS, awsome idea! anyone know how much they'll give me for it? it's kind scratched up and i think my cousin got gum stuck on the side. anywho. i have allready asked for november 21st off and i am going to be at EB Games the moment it opens. i'm also going to sit on the bench outside EB Games allday until someone else buys a DS and i can kick their ass in first hunt. any takers? [nov 21st, ebgames, seminole towne center mall, sanford fl, 12:00 pm] allthough i will have to check with the mall office they might be open earlier that day since it's holiday hours. if so 11:00 am but i will post on here if that is the case. hahahaha your (morph) balls are mine!

EDIT: i definetly won't NEED a gba anymore seeing as i have my GBPlayer to play my GB, and GBC games

EBGames gave me $25 for my GBA, and $5 dollars for Namco Museam (GBA) so i have a total of $115 down on my DS, ::sigh of relief::

Is there any place to preorder now? I don't have an EB near me and I heard that Gamestops have stopped taking orders. TRU also doesn't take preorders. I finally got the money, but I’m afraid that I won’t be able to actually buy one now until a second shipment.

Also, what are the chances that there will be a price drop shortly after launch?

With Sony's recent price announcement, there may be a price drop in the future, but it may not be until the PSP launches next year.

I had originally put $5 down at EB the same day that Nintendo release the final price info. A couple days later they called me at home and told me that they just got the info and have to increase the preorder amount to $20 with the $20 people will get it first with the $5 people getting it next.
My preorder had just become a pre-maybe.
So I mosey-ed on down to EB and promptly cancelled my pre-order (I HATE it when people in a business environment "over promise and under deliver" i.e. they make stuff up and can’t back it up i.e. they are lying bastardtards)
So now I will wait outside Toys 'r Us (they don't preorder systems at all) (and they don't lie to me) and just pick one up in the morning.
