Cool Games that Need to Come to the DS
« on: August 25, 2004, 07:58:34 AM »
Mario Tennis

This one is a No brainer, wireless multiplayer, frantic teniis action, and for once each player can have the courtside view that they want!

Mario Golf

I loved toadstool tour, and i would have played it a lot more if it were portable.  Lets face it, the GBC version was great, the GBA version was OK.  I think that the DS could do a portable version of this game some justice

Starfox

Multiplayer co-op missions, 8-16 wireless dogfighting, there is so much fun to had with this if it is done right.

Mario Party

If all the GOOD stuff that came from the previous console versions with a dash of some REAL innovation is thrown into a solid portable version, id say we would have some fun with this one.

Final Fantasy Tactics

Please?.............

wario will be a great alternative for mario party right  now...but also!

zelda four swords: they're already making this, and i hope its just like the GC version  because i'm sure it could be done. the top screen is the main world, or the TV, and the bottom is the house/dungeon area, or the GBA. Plus we have the great wireless multiplayer!!!!!!

new chrono trigger: think of the possibilities with 2 screens...the past, present, and future!!!!

custom robo ds: kinda like a sequal to the n64 version, but with features from the GC one

and a lot more....

I like the custom robo idea, i really hope that the DS focuses a lot on the Multiplayer type games since i feel it will be easier to play against other people. I still haven't beat FF:CC or Four Swords Adventures cuz i can never get that complicated setup together enough.

Those games would be great on the DS, but they're just the same games that we've all played before but with wireless multiplayer. I want something fresh, but those would be good nonetheless.

Probably won't happen, but I'd really like to see Konami remake the original MSX Metal Gear games. The second screen could be a radar, that'd be a given.

Denis Dyack and Silicon Knights would love to be a part of this.

When a new piece of hardware is announced, why is the first thing people want sequels to existing games? This whole way of thinking is what brought us the sequel madness we're currently experiencing.

Because a seequel to a popular game automatically means a "safe game" which will be a automatically good game (James Bond games dont count also DMC2 doesnt)

I really hope you're being sarcastic and making fun of those who actually believe that a sequal to a popular game means that it will be good a game.

"sonic, or final fantasy"

Aha, there hasn't been a good Sonic game since Knuckles(though Sonic 3 is better)...And don't get me started on my opinion of FF...

I personally would like to see more of the familiar faces in new genres, but there can be some new faces(just like Pikmin did for the GC)

My goodness, Starfox would be absolutely stellar

In using both first person view and third person (on either screen), they could also implement some touchscreen controls and mess up the mix like whoa.

Think about it this way:

If you had great sex with someone, well, you'd likely want to have sex with them again. And if said sexy person also had a sexy makeover since the last session...well, many people would be that much more excited.

....
I beleive this is called the Law of Yin and Yang.
...
..

Ok, Ok...I just wanted an excuse to use the word "sex".
Hah! Again! Sweet.

And to answer the first post:

I think Front Mission, Ogre battle, Fire Emblem, and yes, FF Tactics would just be gorgeous for the system. Direct access to units in strategy games would be big for easier control.

I would also like to see Capcom attempt to make a Steel Battalion like game with the DS interface acting much like it did for the Submarine demo at E3. (For those who dont know, Steel Batallion is a giant-robot sim that Capcom made where you sit in the robot's cockpit and have a sophisticated array of controls and weapons at your fingertips).
I think its possible, and I think a network play version of said game would be really, really cool.

Sex!

Pikmin! The touch screen would enable a superior way of controlling your Pikmin, just touch the Pikmin you want to move and point where you want to move them, the second screen could either be a map or another view of something or like a hidden camera you can use to view Pikmin that are off on their own doing something else, to make sure they;'re alright.

And a GTA game could be huge, but Rockstar hate Nintendo so they wouldnt even think of that.

And every other good game ever should be on DS.

Accually with the stylist controler a computer type RTS wouldn't not be that difficult to make.

And as for a GTA game I thought they made one for the GBA, so there is alway the possiblity that one may make its way to the DS depending on sales.

yeah but i find a GTA game more likely to be released on the PSP... think about it: GTA is a perfect game to play for 5-10 minutes at a time, and would actually push PSP's off the shelves

I think Mario Party would work out very well... the touchscreen is practically made for mini-games.   Draw as many mushrooms as you can in 30 seconds, play whack-a-mole (or Goomba) with your fingers, or draw your way through a maze.

Pikmin on the DS would probably be very good, but I wonder if it has the power to pull it off?  I don't expect Gamecube graphics, but the thought of making any game with 100 characters onscreen at one time with the N64 would probably give developers headaches, much less a game that's going to appear on a tiny handheld screen!  Still, the DS is definitely ideal for menu-based games like RTS'.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Pikmin would be cool, if they use 2 captains, you could see what Olimar is doing on one screen and what the other captain is doing on the other screen. (I forgot the other captains name)

Oh yeah, Kurst Chao, I have had my DS reserved since July

thats cool zack, but why do i need to know... besides that, the pikmin idea would be very cool  on the ds. i was also thinking, what if there was a game that worked like macromedia flash mx, that you could create your own movies by drawing stuff on different frames of animation. it would make great use of the voice recognition too, for sound recording a such. I really think it would be awsome.

ITs high time Atlus gave us a new ogre battle game.  My copies of person of lordly calibur and knight of lodis are wearing thin.  I know the game wouldn't sell well, but if it has the same quality of the other games critics will love it and hardcore RPG fans that actually buy rpgs that don't say final fantasy will buy it and that's all they can ask for.

Jet Set Radio.  That would be awsome.  Making your own graffiti would be the best ever.  And they could go back to the old way of spraying graffiti by the player controlling the spray with the touchscreen.  The soundtrack would probably suffer a little but not too much.
