Why no christian games
« on: August 24, 2004, 03:26:09 PM »
I was thinking the other day, in TV,MUSIC, and Movies there are Christian types of that media.  And i was wondering why there were no christian video games.  It is a great way to spread gods word to millions of people.  And parents would love to buy these games for there kids.  I know a lot of game developers are jappaneese and most jappanesse are not christian, but there is alot of north American and European developers out there.  I am aware of only one christian game, i think it was on the nes, never played it but i read a review and it was based on the bible and it wasnt very fun.(the bible's great for saving peoples souls but not much of a blueprint for a video game).  So why no christian games

Play Billy Graham's Bible Blaster.

also, locking this before the anti-god squad crew rolls in and wrecks up the place.

Just so I can get a more sympathetic word in here.  We don't allow these kinds of discussions pretty much because in an open forum like this, it just becomes a huge magnet for lunatics.  As a fellow believer, I understand what you're saying, but I don't think a general game site on the Internet is the place to discuss it.  If you're on a Christian forum, or if you're talking to someone one-on-one in chat, it tends to turn out well, but in this kind of open environment where a lot of people don't even understand your perspective, you'll have all kinds of stuff thrown at you before you even know what hit you.

There is a group that is working on "Christian" videogames, although I haven't seen much of their work.  What I have seen still seems to rely too much on blatant allegory for my tastes (sword of the spirit, demon hunting, etc.), which probably makes it a poor tool for evangelism as well.  If you want to discuss more on my philosophies behind it all, feel free to shoot me an e-mail.
