It plays exactly the same though, after playing it for 10 minutes, it feels like you have played it a million times before, that is what I meant with my comment. I also dont mean it as a bad thing. I am a huge fan of MK64, I just dont see DD as anything worthy of GOTY simply because it is far to similar to MK64.

Hope that is a little better explanation.

Still MK: DD is a very good game and worth a pick up due to its fun factor.

My vote for game of the year would be lotr Return of the King. That game is just awesome. For gamecube exclusive I don't know I got to play more games.

i would either say wind waker or viewtiful joe
wind waker is very well done and should get it for how it presented itself- i dont know about everyone else but i thought the cell shading used in wind waker was well implemented- but not only are the graphics in ww are beautiful, people tend to forget how this zelda had (in my opinion) the best story out of any zelda- the story line in the game, while not epic rpg great, was very well done and nicely implemented for a zelda game

now as of viewtiful joe- i think this was one of the best games released all year- it is a fresh new take on a sidescrolling game and the vfx were used very well- they were important in both fighting and solving puzzles- the game was very fun and my personal favorite from capcom this year

on the gba front i would choose from golden sun 2, fire emblem (probably would be my personal favorite and vote), or wario ware inc.

First off, I thought it was Battlefield 1942, not 1914.  But I'm not sure, I've never played it.  It was the GOTY, though.

WW and F-Zero are both very good games, though I prefer WW.  I'm not sure about Mario Kart, but I intend to find that out by tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

Yes it is Battlefield 1942. GOTY? Hmm let's see. MKDD( no it is not Mortal Kombat   ),Zelda and Viewtiful Joe are my picks for top contenders this year. MKDD may play like the old N 64 like some say, but I think it doesnt that much, the characters u choose plus the kart affect ur stamina on the races, plus you need strategy, which one for running fast  and which one is better in turning and trowing stuff. The game looks great, plays great and it is a blast in multiplayer mode.

Zelda...Well you all know why Zelda owns. Some people may still whine and bitch abou it, but I sure know some that shut the hell up after they gave it a try. The graphics,sound,control and gameplay where all excellent done for this game. I think the sailing was good, it was something completly different for an industry that relies heavy on same old same old ideas.It also answered some questions about Hyrule and the story itself, and open lots of more of course.

Viewtiful Joe.. a completly different game with another style that was good for us to see that new ideas can still be made in this industry. Capcom like the big N took a risk and made this game and we all capcom fans thank them for it.

Of course there are more contenders out there and probably more opinions out there that are valid.I love videogames but I dont have the money nor the time to buy and play em all.(Althought I wish I could but that would have been ina perfect world.) What I did was look for original ideas, yeah you may think MKDD idea isnt that good, but I do. I think Zelda should receive a GOTY award but we all know that the game that will win it will be a FPS, or a really reallly hyped one that doesn't make the cut when you actually finish it.
