actually, these numbers are true, despite the fact that nintendo may have not done that well.
the numbers are all around the gamespot, and teamxbox forums, with far more detailed numbers as well
unfortunately, i don't have the link to gamespot, but if you truly don't believe it, check for yourself

They look fake to me too. The xbox jumped too much and the PS2 wend down too much. The GC numbers looks more believables, they have just a little jump because the GBP i suppose.

Well there are a number of reasons why i think they are fake. Not because Nintendo isnt doing well, thats obvious

1) There is no way Xbox could be that close to PS2.

2) According to that report, Nintendo GCN unit sales are up 24% year over year, but last June Nintendo sold  213,100 in June 2002. How can you go up year by year yet sell fewer units?

3) Check out the May numbers and compare the numbers, the "June" number are just number floating around that some guy made up, and are just a slight modification of the May numbers to make them look like June. To back this up, the June software numbers have MP4, AC, TWW selling the exact same amount they did in May.

4) GB Player is in the software chart.

THEY ARE FAKE.

Actually they are real.  But on the bright side, Microsoft just announced they have sold 9.4 million Xboxes worldwide as of June 2003. Nintendo had that many during E3 so they are in the lead.  I could post the video-game sales for June as well but it looks quite long(unless someone says it's okay to do so).

Yes, its obvious Nintendo has second place worldwide. Nintendo announced in March they had sold over 9.55 million consoles total, and Microsoft announced just now, as of June, that they had sold a total of 9.4 million consoles. But that isnt what this thread is about, this thread is about those June numbers, which are wrong, and i have explained why they are wrong in my post up there.

>>  Numbers are fake......There is no way Xbox could be that close to PS2 <<

Actually it could very much be real. Why? Simple economics 101. Market saturation. Everyone who wants a PS2 ALREADY owns a PS2. With the PS2 huge consumer base..... they pretty much got everyone that wanted one thus the numbers start to fall off. So those people start to look elsewhere and considering they own a PS2 .... they are more interested in mature games so they buy Xbox. Gamecube is too kiddy for them.

If that were true the GBA's sales would start tapering off, which they haven't, sales would be down in Japan, too, which they aren't (everybody there must own 3 PS2's, I swear), and the sales drop would be gradual, which it wasn't (first the PS2 is way out in the lead and suddenly it's not?). It's possible the numbers may be true, but Mario's put up *far* more evidence they're fake than anyone has put up to the contrary.

dude the last thing i want to m$ to be in first place.....honestly who buys the xbox...and why......its not that its sooooo bad and u are dumb if u buy one, but honestly....what is the psychology behind such a purchase...nintendo and sony both have way better game line ups...i think its possible the numbers are fake, but not because of the xbox or gc numbers...the ps2 numbers just seem too low...maybe it was just a fluke...who knows. nintendo needs to start just giving away free gamecube to get an installed base....just start selling the for 100 dollars or give away four games of ur choice with teh console....there is really no excuse for hte xbox selling more...ill hand it to nintendo...they are hold their ground...they are refusing to give anything away for free. i seriously think that the peopel at nintendo are japanese jews....hahahahhaa dont worry i can say stuff liek that i am jewish.

Just so that everyone understands, these are fake.
1. Take a look at marios Explanations.
2. It was posted in Gamespot forums , and then a person named "City Boy" posted a thread about it again in GS, bashing PS2.
3. It was posted in TXB forums by person named "City Boy" and saying source was GS forums, meaning it had to be copied from there.

Combined with Marios Explanations you get Bona-fied fakes.
And the original post in GS was just some one messing with may numbers.

Look at that. Smash Bros is STILL going. There's no stopping it. And Mario Party 4 is close behind too.
Hopefully Nintendo's MANY other 4P games coming out this year will be equally resilient.

Well Jackson its because it not based on copies sold but on how much money the publisher made on the game. For example. If Game A sells 10 copies at an average price of $100 and Game B sells 20 copies at an average price of $4, Game A would be ranked number 1 and Game B would be ranked number 2. Hope that explains it.
