In discussions of the 3DS, I constantly see people saying the hardware or the games cost too much for a handheld. My question is, why is there a defined difference between handhelds and consoles? Why would people refuse to ever buy a 3DS game for $50, but have no real problem buying the same exact game for Wii at the same price? I understand the argument that games in general should be cheaper, but I don't agree that handheld games are automatically worth less money than console games.
I honestly don't get the notion either, it is common practice that the smaller and more portable something gets the pricier it will be. Take a DVD player vs Portable DVD player, the portable one has less ability, and while it has a screen it is still quite a bit more pricey. Same can be said for netbooks, a standard sized laptop with a 15" screen that runs the same price as a netbook will be quite a bit more powerful. It honestly makes no sense, every other electronic pricing is higher based on portability vs performance. Handheld games are portable gaming on the run, so why should they need to be cheaper then consoles when that is not true with other segments of the electronics industry?
