Club Nintendo Celebrates Mario's Anniversary
« on: October 20, 2010, 02:23:19 PM »

Members can now get a Mario screensaver or commemorative pins.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/24324

Nintendo is adding five new rewards, a screensaver and four pins, for Club Nintendo members that celebrate Mario's 25th anniversary.

The first is the "Evolution of Mario" screensaver, available for 10 coins, that shows gameplay footage from all of Mario's past games, including his latest, Super Mario Galaxy 2.

The four pins, available for 450 coins each, feature original 2D artwork. In addition to featuring Mario, some of the pins also have Peach, Toad, and Yoshi on them.

Downloading the screensaver as we speak.

Man, those pins are so awesome! Too bad they are expensive in terms of coins!

Nice to see Club Nintendo getting more items, though as usual there's nothing here that interests me.  The pins are kind of cool, but they're overpriced and I don't collect pins so I have no use for them.  I'd be interested in the screensaver if it was something I could actually use on my Wii, but I never use a screensaver on my laptop (I just have the laptop turn the display off).
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

Just installed the screensaver. It is surprisingly cool. It is actually a flash video that shows off gameplay footage of all the Mario games.

Wow. No joke on the pins being overpriced. I misread the article and thought you got a set for 450. But it is 450 a piece.

Ugh. And here I thought I saw something worth getting in the store. The screen saver is tempting though.

I don't mean to keep ragging on Club Nintendo, but it's extremely lame to have to spend coins for this (though I guess they've been doing this in Europe for years), especially if it's just old footage.

Is there anything stopping someone from copying the screen saver file and sending it to others?

I'd imagine not, Mop it up.

I'd be tempted to get one of these if it weren't for my mad quest to acquire the Hanafuda card set.

I'm tempted by one of the buttons. I have over 1000 coins now (THANKS, BLOCKBUSTER!) so I'm not in danger of running out anytime soon. But yeah, they're way overpriced.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

Last year I got it the day after Halloween. I was going to wear it to work on Halloween so I was a bit disappointed it was late by a day.

I guess it's time to fill out some more surveys, so that I can get two of those pins.

Fair warning... everyone's going to use all of their coins for buttons and fans... then *bamn* limited release of Mario All Stars for 2,000 coins.

Unclebog I really don't care about that mario re-re-release. I own all the games already, have tons of great mario music already on my ipod so that package is worthless. They should have listened to me and my requests for it: Super Mario Brothers Collection Special Pack Wishlist
