Michael Jackson's Moonwalker came out on the Genesis and Master System in 1990 and he said he was happy with how his songs sounded o the game.
Sonic The Hedgehog 3 came out in 1994. So that part of the story is dubious.
There is no confirmation that any of the music was done by Jackson. Sega itself had no knowledge of Jackson doing anything for it (it was all just the composer), and he even admits that he doesn't know what music Sega actually put in the game. So I guess what can be confirmed is that Jackson composed some songs that may or may not have been in the final game.
