Nintendo has announced that the MotionPlus-enhanced title Wii Sports Resort has sold 500,000 copies since its July 26 release in North America.

Nintendo of America Vice President of Sales and Marketing Cammie Dunaway stated that this equates to one copy of the title being sold every 1.5 second since launch.

In Japan, the title sold 300,000 copies in four days, making it the third fastest-selling Wii title behind Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Prior to the release of Wii Sports Resort, MotionPlus managed to sell 374,000 units between the standalone package and the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 bundle since its June release. With all the numbers combined, over 874,000 MotionPlus units have been sold.

I expect this number to peak during Christmas time, especially because of the lack of software from third parties.
