Haptic is sort of an all encompassing term, but more specifically I meant Tactile Feedback.
Or when the touch screen (in this example) would give you sensory cues as to what you are touching.
As you slide your finger across the screen, you would be able to feel the button on the touch screen.

Imagine a touchscreen Keyboard where you can feel when your fingers leave the space of one button and enter the space of the button next to it.

• The term tactile feedback is used to describe devices that play high-fidelity tactile sensations, but generally won't move or inhibit the movement of either the device or the hand holding it. A tactile feedback device can play a wide variety of distinguishable taps, textures, and vibration effects to communicate with the user and greatly enrich the computing or gaming experience. A number of pointing and gaming devices fall into this category.

That is the next step in touch screen devices, but that is more for the DSNext than the Wii+

I figured it was similar to tactile feedback, I'm just unfamiliar with the term.
Is it possible for them to do that yet on any level? What I mean is has it been done in a lab or something, not if it is feasible currently for Nintendo to offer  on a new system.

Immersion is working on it, & they apparently have some prototypes made.
I know Sony was working on it too, but I couldn't tell you how far we are from something hitting a mass market at a price that can be afforded.

What would be nice is some sort of gyro "force feed back" in the wiimote itself, but that seems pretty unpossible

By 'force feedback' are you refering to creating a resistance against your movement to simulate when your digital tool encounters an object? Say you have a lightsaber and you swing the remote, but come in contact with another saber so you receive some resistance from your WiiMote.
