The Amazon Conundrum
« on: July 26, 2008, 07:55:39 PM »
Here's the story.

I've been saving my pocket change for years now and I decided that I would get it counted once I filled the container I was putting it in.  Well today was that day and I went to a Coinstar and got it counted and turned into an Amazon gift certificate, no counting fee.  I ended up with $92.16.  I want to spend it in something sort of frivolous but means something.  I rather not just turn around and buy Videogames or Graphics novel.  On the flipside I don't really see anything I want.  Haven't really been on a situation like this is a long time.  I was hoping to hear what you guys would do to maybe help kick the rusty gears in motion.

My digital camera just died, so I'd probably use it towards a new one of those.

I thought about a better one of those but a truly good one cost 3 times what I have... :(

Yes they do but, I'm up to date on all the series I was following.  I thought about maybe a modeling book so I could make a small town...

You could always get some obscure graphic novels that you would wouldn't have read otherwise.  The Pokemon Adventure manga is quite good and perhaps available.  Or you can try math books.

Get all 5 Foundation books even if you've already read them.

You could learn how to become a violinist, or a cook, or an urban explorer, or Batman.

I suggest the works of Robert E. Howard.  There are three volumes of his Conan short stories which is a good place to start and then there are similar volumes for his other characters.  And each book is only like $11.

I seriously cannot imagine not being able to find SOMETHING on Amazon in just the books alone.  Just take a chance on something you've heard good things about.

I always feel kind of depressed when I go online looking for something and can't find anything I want to buy.  I mean I always can find at least one thing to buy.  It's just weird.

Neil Gaiman is a kickass author.  American Gods is highly recommended.
