Nintendo denies charges of under-shipping, points to unprecedented demand instead.

 It’s not exactly a stunning revelation to anyone doing their Christmas shopping, but the Wii is still selling out everywhere you go. Wired talked about the situation with Nintendo Senior Vice President George Harrison, who refuted accusations that Nintendo was hoarding stock to create artificial demand.

According to Harrison, Nintendo had been hoping to start stockpiling extra consoles for the holiday season in August. Instead, unflinching demand prevented them from doing so, breaking seasonal trends and confounding experts. Michael Pachter, an analyst from Wedbush Morgan Securities, claims that “Nintendo could not have expected this level of popularity."

Even with 1.8 million Wii consoles being manufactured monthly, Harrison admits that the best way to land one of the hotly sought-after consoles is to find out when stores get their Wii deliveries to maximize your chances.

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

Also, for those wondering, I'm only doing this on talkbacks that don't already have the info and I have the first post in.

I can't blame them.  The demand is very high and production has ramped up the most you can really expect.
