I'm starting to wonder if these icons even mean playable character...

I mean, what playable character are we going to get from the DS world?

A stylus?

The pen is mightier than the Mario.

I've been saying it all along, but I bet it just means if there is a playable character OR stage related to that franchise.  This also proves that a Animal Crossing character is hardly a "lock" for Brawl, as some have stated previously.

Yeah, I think this can safely squelch any certainty for an AC character.

After Resetti was made an AT, I frankly didn't care after that.

I think we are jumping into conclusions far too quickly. Yes, the Pictochat stage may be a "for the hell of it" stage and may not be linked to a character, but it doesn't mean that the AC character is still out of the question. Maybe I am putting too much thought on the poll list but considering three of those characters made it in and Sakurai listened to the Sonic requests I doubt he would totally ignore popular opinion.

So lets put it this way; the AC character is neither a shoe-in nor out of the question. After all, some of us got worried about Sonic and online because Sakurai was extremely quiet about them.

Well neither I or Smash_Brother said that was the case. We simply stated that it was no longer a "lock" for their to be a playable Animal Crossing character in the title, as a few had stated in the past due to the inclusion of the AC icon.

There could still be an AC character, but with the introduction of a DS stage, it shoots down the previous notion that a stage had to be connected with a character, unless of course they reveal a fighting stylus or something of the sort.

Besides, every AC character has pretty much already been shown off in the background of the stage and I've plenty of reason to believe that disqualifies them as potential combatants.

Besides, what would the moveset for that albitros be anyway?  Sea chanty on every combo!

Does this mean that we can get Chris Hanson in Brawl too as the Pedo Chatter's Arch Nemesis. He will be an Assist Trophy who makes everyone on the screen who is a Pedo Chatter blow their brains out.

There are multiple human MC's so while any of the animal characters are no longer combatants the humans can still represent the series.

But at this point its hard to tell. Sakurai just has that knack of messing with you. A character might or might not be confirmed but we won't know until he feels like updating us on it, and that might take months.
