The controls aren't bad once you get used to them, unfortunately by that time you're probably on the last level since it's such a short game. Rented it for 2 nights and easily finished it in one.

The aiming, though, is a bit laggy no matter how you adjust it. You just can't make quick movements like in a pc fps(can't say whether you can in other console fps because I just haven't played them.) and that was a pain. But once you get used to the slower style it's not bad. Not good either but a decent 1-2 night rental.

The actual game is prettier than Call of Duty 3, but the framerate is absolutely terrible, and makes you think you're playing a PS2 game with a Wii controller.
I think it says on the box, 'No Hispanics' " - Jeff Green of EA

My MOH-loving friend picked it up today and I played through the first 2 levels. Actually - I found the controls to be the best out of the Wii FPS' I have tried (Red Steel and Call Of Duty being the others). I had it "mastered" in less than 10 minutes. For some reason, I find that with the Wii FPS controls, I do not experience the motion sickness I get when playing a similar game with a standard controller.

Really the only complaint I have about this game (besides the fact that it's a WWII FPS) is what Brandogg had to say about the dips in the framerate. The game moves along just fine until either it starts to rain or there are multiple explosions going on around you. Once that happens you'd swear the game is running in some sort of hidden, slow motion mode.

It's a feature, not a bug?

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

I rented this and have made it through the first campaign. The graphics are an odd mix. Think PS2 graphics with some pretty dynamic lighting. I find the controls nice and I prefer the Wii style floaty gun bounding box rather than the small bounding box or the camera fixed to the gun. Gameplay seems typical WWII shooter, but I haven't played one in awhile, so it's fun so far.

More Impressions!

On the final level now, this game is very short. 8 hours max.

The graphics can, at times, look fantastic and then you look at the bland texture on your hand holding the gun. Uneven graphix = sloppy port

The sound is good but can get repetitive. "Take out that MG42!"

The gameplay is standard WWII shooter fare. The parachuting is fun, but only happens a few times. Levels feel a bit constrained sometimes with too few enemies, but that's what you get with a PS2 port OLOL

Controls are good and highly customizable.

I say rent this game. For $8 it's worth a couple nights play

Isn't it ironic that the title of this thread is "MOH looks purdy", yet the actual impressions say the graphics are very mixed and port like? :p

Your mom looks purdy.

MOH Vanguard is like the two faced girl Jerry dated in that one episode of Seinfeld. Depending on the lighting it can look pretty or ugly.

Was that a jab towards me?

If so, I wasn't aiming at anyone in my last post. I just find it funny that this thread is called "MOH looks purdy" when the actual impressions and reviews say that the graphics are a mixed bag at best.

Just pointing out irony here, people!

I was trying to complement

I've never seen your mom, but I'm sure she's a lovely woman

Maybe we can get Smash to edit the title of the OP.

My bad then. Its sometimes hard to tell whether someone is just playing around or being mean spirited.

I'll tell her you said that .

As for the thread, I realized that SB still owes you all impressions! I'm sure he is still dealing from the mid March flood of Wii games and hasn't gotten around to it :p .
