It's nice, but getting it sure caused some headaches. First of all, the update went fine. Then I couldn't connect to the Shop Channel, which, annoyingly, takes about fifty years to decide it's never going to connect and give control back to me. I didn't have time to mess with it, so I left it until the following evening, by which time it had occurred to me to check the Wii's connection settings to make sure it was using the right one. I have two settings in there. Number 1 is the USB connector, and number 2 is my recently purchased wireless router. Sure enough, the update had made it default back to connection 1, which I didn't have running on my computer anymore. That's going to be annoying if every update resets that.
When I started the Internet Channel for the first time, it said it was writing data, then it put me on the new home screen, and my remote stopped working. I would push A, and it would blink at me, and then turn off again, just like it does if the Wii is turned off. I turned the Wii off, and the remote wouldn't turn it on again. I started it up with the power button, and neither of my remotes would connect to it. I tried the sync buttons, and still nothing happened. Finally, I unplugged the Wii, and when I plugged it back in, everything worked fine again.
I hope that my annoyance at least saves someone in a similar predicament some grief.
