AC memory question

whats up with the memory card usage in animal crossing ? why does it require a second memory card to have a second village . im wondering from a technical standpoint . seems to me that the location of the other village data should be irrelevant .

Each village is different. Different events. Different people. Different fruit. Different town layout. That is why you need two mem. cards for two towns.

You don't need two towns, it's just a good thing to have to get certain rare items or fruits.

I think he means that if you have a MC251 you can't have two towns on the Memory card.  Most games will only let you have one file on a memory card.  It is stupid.  Metroid only gives you three game saves, but only takes up 1block!  You should be able to double, or tripple the number of saves if you want to.  I am sure there is some reason for it, but I don't know what it is.

well , almost . what i meant , was why would a second card be needed , when there is plenty of memory on your primary card . (yego , its pretty obvious that the 2 towns are different . i wasnt asking what a second town is , or what it does)

at any rate , ive found the answer . reason is so that you can visit towns that your friends have made . if you had more than one town on a single memory card , the game wouldnt know which to load , so you can access your character . this way , you can have your town in slot A , and slot B is used for someone else's town . of course you can make the second town yourself , but assume it does belong to your buddy . the game cannot allow you to have access to a town without the memory card its on because it would cause major sync issues if he ever came back (with both of you having made different changes to teh same town) and you went to his town again .

i hope thats a clear enough explanantion .

Just the way the game is coded is why you can't have more than one town on a card. Whenever you start the game, it just chooses the one file on the card, and goes from there. Obviously, if Nintendo coded it so you could choose multiple save files on one card, you could do that. But they didn't. I don't really mind, because Nintendo was nice enough to include a Memory Card 59 with Animal Crossing. Also, I bet there were cheating issues involved. Like, say you screwed up and didn't want to save. You could just save to a copy of the main save file, so it wouldn't really affect your true save file. Mr. Resetti's supervising job is stressful enough as it is. He doesn't need to be monitering your save files too!

I wonder why too....We need to pressure companies to allow unrestricted character saves on their games. It always seems like a game with a 3 game save limit, I need just one more.....then I have to pull out another card any time I want to use that file. Shouldn't have to with a mem card 251.
Also, with PSO...just 4 characters, but xbox gets 12, why? Because the harddrive....doesn't make sense to me, just let us add more 2 more character files if we want.
I have crabs, would you like some?

animal crossing allows you to make textures...that takes up alot of memory...im amazed at how many you can make....each character can hold 8...but you can save a ton at the tailor shop.
