Just thought i'd bring to attention the new commercial for the free game that comes with the gamecube... this commercial was somwhat funny in my opinion.. the guy at the register reminds me of the clerk in Meet the Parents that sells ben stiller the Mums wine... anyway.. the commercial was airing during Joe Millionaire tonight.

I'll shut up now...

Yeah two Nintendo commercials within an hour and a half.... I never thought I'd live to see the day.
Looks like the Xbox pulling ahead really got them of their asses.

I agree with all of you! For those of you who missed the commercial, It's of a store clerk scanning a gamcube system and then metroid prime. Metroid prime keeps coming in as zero dollars and confusing the stor clerk. It's a pretty funny commercial if you ask me. Nintendo could have scored big by airing it at the super bowl. I didn't see the Resident Evil one though. Could someone who did describe what happend please...

Yes, I wonder if they got a new marketing firm or what.  It was amusing.

It was refreshing to see, thats for sure.  I made my own GC commercial about 6 months ago.  I had a cube and an xbox side by side.  The x-box had a real 'tough, ' annoyingly loud voice, boasting about itself.  "Cmon!, play me! I got the most power ever!  You just wait!  I'll have the best RPG of all time!  I will!..."Meanwhile, the cube is silent.  The GC politelty clears its throat as people come in the room.  You see a 12-pack get put on the box, like a table, as a bunch of people get the cube action going.  What do you think?

[voices of the machines were off camera obviously]

"why havent they done Zelda comercials?"

I think they have a theatrical trailer but I've never seen it at my local theatre.  I hope Nintendo doesn't think that Zelda will sell on it's own without any advertising.

As for the free game commericial it's funny and informative so it's effective.  It reminds me of an N64 price cut commericial where a guy got his first pay cheque for $100 and he quit his job because he had enough to buy an N64.  The N64 commercials were in general really good and people talked about them even though the N64 wasn't the top system so Nintendo should probably stick to that style if they can't think of anything better.

Zeldas actually really long away still (atleast it feels that way, march 24th is still long away  )
But i guess in the gaming world you gotta start making advertisements.
I really hope Zelda passes the 1million mark in the US atleast, it sJapanese sales were dissapointing.

The commercial also aired a ton of times during RAW last night. Now all Nintendo needs to do is broadcast this and other Cube commercials REPEATEDLY and CONSTANTLY on EVERY channel. I don't care if you guys think this is sneaky and underhanded and that Nintendo is too good for this- MS is doing it and currently the XBox is outselling the Gamecube in the US. If it works for MS, why not Nintendo? Nitendo's great at making games but I fear their marketing has gone to hell in a handbasket ever since Pater Main left.

i really like the ad myself. really good!

about the zelda commercial. there is one that airs on G4!  it just shows game footage and has some guy speaking over it(kinda lame)..it also says you can preorder the game at ebgames.  the commercial is  probably made by that store. i doubt nintendo would do something THAT sloppy.

I heard that Nintendo advertised on the finale of Joe Millionaire. Joe Millionaire drew huge ratings.

Quote

Advertisers reportedly paid up to $500,000 for each 30-second commercial spot during "Joe's"  finale.

Nintendo spent a lot. Hopefully, it will pay off.

I was watching T.V. just a few seconds ago and I saw the zelda commercial. The one probably everyone reading this has downloaded (the  so called "theatrical trailer") anyway just thought I'd post to let all of you know that. Looks like Nintendo is finally putting some money into advertising.....

They should really air a Zelda commercial like the ones they have in japan.  You know, the ones that are similar to the one on the Oot Bonus Disc, but better.  They have that awesome version of the Zelda theme and in the middle of one of them, there is a series of shots of Link unsheathing his sword.  That just spells classic.

All they have to do is replace the Japanese and it'd be perfect!
