« on: September 23, 2015, 01:01:00 PM »

Siblings, magazines and more in this weeks packed Connectivity.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/connectivity/41206/episode-187-my-sister-broke-the-nes

This week on Connectivity, Nicholas Bray, Neal Ronaghan, Adam Abou-Nasr and Becky Hollada join forces to discuss growing up playing games with their siblings, along with a chat all about Nintendo magazines from the years gone by.

Aside from the two main discussion topics, the gang chat a little bit about the Pikmin 4 announcement, along with some thoughts on Super Mario Maker, Disney Infinity 3.0 and LBX. Becky updates everyone on her and Kim's youtube show and Nick tosses in some discussion of the Super Mario Bros. movie Blu-Ray.

If you want to see some pictures and other details of the magazine Nick mentions in this episode, check them out here.

Musical selections this week include. A jazz performance of the main Tetris song (Korobeiniki), Green Memory from Chrono Trigger by Yasunori Mitsuda and Kazenone from Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles by Yae.

Connectivity has joined twitter, so be sure to follow @ConnectivityNWR to be up to date on any announcements. We are wanting more listener participation, feel free to ask questions, they may show up in the show!

Also, send us your listener mail by clicking here.

Thanks for listening.

"The reality of how many terrible levels are going to be made kind of harshens my buzz..."
"Not everyone can be a game designer."

Wanted to comment quickly on these opinions from early in the show.
I think Mario Maker looks awesome, and think it fantastic to see people excited about the game. But I'm glad to not be along in holding these opinions.

I've played plenty of other user-generated content before in other games, and the amount that is worth playing unless you know the creator personally has consistently been very, very small.  Not everyone can be a game designer, indeed.

On the upside: there are plenty of built-in levels to try, your own ability to create is where the real joy comes from, and there is some good shared content out there if you can find it.

Great show guys. Enjoyed listening to it!  :)

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the episode! :)

At the time of recording, Neal was the only one who had Mario Maker obviously. Now that I've had the game for awhile, it's so much fun making stuff and while there is a bunch of trash uploaded, it's not too bad finding worthwhile levels to play from Twitter and the NWR forums etc.

Hm ok. I had someone else mention that as well, I had checked via iTunes on my computers and asked someone else and it seemed to be working fine.

Could it be something with some peoples feeds? I dunno what could be wrong, I'll have another look into it.

Edit: Ok I subscribed to Connectivity on another computer that has a more recent iTunes. While the episode didn't seem to be listed in the search, once I subscribed it started downloading this episode. I'll check with some other staffers and see what could be up.

It seems like its definitely there and working though.

Just to confirm - it was in iTunes fine when I posted. That's how I get the episodes.
Maybe something else is amiss?
