Sam Fisher stealthily returns to Nintendo consoles later this year.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist has been officially confirmed for Wii U, to be released in late August of this year.

Serving as the sixth main instalment in Ubisoft's stealth action series, Blacklist sends protagonist Sam Fisher, now the commander of new intelligence task force Fourth Echelon, on a worldwide hunt for a terrorist group that has outlined a "blacklist" of major terror attacks on the United States.

The Wii U version contains a number of unique features, utilising the GamePad to switch between and control Fisher's broad arsenal of weaponry and gadgets. For example, when using a Snake Camera to peer under doors, the camera footage will appear on the controller's screen.

Splinter Cell Blacklist is out on August 20 in North America and August 23 in Europe.

I would just like to say how much I've come to hate it when news headlines anthropomorphize video games. Splinter Call does not sneak on to Wii U, Mario Kart 7 did not race on to store shelves, and Guitar Hero did not die of an overdose. This needs to stop people!

On a lighter note, this is good news.  ;D

This is normally a product of being bored of using the words 'announced' or 'confirmed', which we have to say a lot because things are being announced and confirmed all the time.

Yeah, I get it. I'm sure that does become pretty tedious.

Still, I really hate those types of headlines. Nintendolife is the worst offender. I just had to get that out of my system, lol.

At this point, Sam Fisher is more worthy of a spot in the next Smash Bros. than Snake.

Ha.

See, at least some thought went into that one. It's the obvious ones that get on my nerves.

It looks like the Wii U avoided the blacklist for this release.
