Anyone **** around with stocks?

Facebook is going public soon for a bill a share. I'm definitely going to pick up as many of those as I can. But I don't think there is an end game with facebook as say, Google, so I'm going to hold on to them for at most 3 years.

That said, I'm going to also invest in Citibank. Why? Well they are 4 bucks a pop and the company still has billions in actual physical property. I'd be surprised if they don't go back to 60 bucks a share eventually. And that's my end game.

I still have a few Nintendo shares still wading in the water, but I doubt it'll hit that 70 peak again like it did in in late '07. But who knows, maybe the 3DS will get it back up there and even beyond.

Anyone have any tips on other stocks? Maybe something energy based?

I typically buy index ETF's just for some general market exposure.  I don't really look into what one company does since there is a lot of factors from the market in general that will affect it so it's hard to correlate a price move with the companies product.  That being said Citibank is probably a good bet since financial should start to recover someday and they typically have good dividends so you can make money on those while you wait for it to get back to 60.  Caterpillar might be a good stock with all the construction that is going to have to take place in Japan.  If your looking for Energy exposure there are ETF's that focus on those as well.

I was thinking about construction because of the tsunami (kinda mess up i know), but I'm pretty sure I missed the boat due to the New Zealand earthquake (again, kinda messed up). They are 107 a pop right now and while it'll probably go up, my guess is marginally.

I'm looking for the small time game if anyone has any ideas. I want to take the money I make in the short term (up to 5 years) and put it in citibank for the long term (10 years and beyond).

i want to get into stocks, mainly because i'm jobless and it seems like a great do nothing job. I started playing this game called Wall street survivor, but its interface is left to be desired. I used to play this game on Nintendo called Wall Street kid, and it worked out better for me.

I played a virtual Stock market game once where we started with 100k in funds and played for I think 12 weeks. I had never done stocks before and had no idea what I was doing, but I had the most money (out of 30 or so other players) by the time the game was over.

I think I had close to $1million by the time it was said and done. I would have been a stock market master had I been using real money making real investments on the same stocks at the same time I had played the game.

the other thing I did was in my free enterprise class in high school I invested in Marvel right before Spider-man came out. If it had been real, I'd be rich.

Yeah, it kind of is. You can get just as good, if not much, much better, returns on other types of investments.
