Amazon.com is pissing me off.
« on: January 16, 2009, 12:04:56 PM »
And so is Activision/Red Octane.  First, Activision tells me that they have no idea when a stand alone drum kit will be released.  Then, they refer me to Red Octane's site, which sends me back to Activision.  As asinine as this is, it's not nearly pissing me off as much as Amazon.com

Source of anger.

So, I go to Amazon.com to look and see if there's a drum kit on the site.  The fruit of that labor is above.  I just can't believe that they want to charge 165 fuckmothering USD for JUST THE DRUMS.  Now, I don't want to seem whiny.  I understand that Europeans and Aussies get the pricing shaft on a daily basis, but this **** is bull-****!

The band kit is 190.  Subtract a $50 game, $35 mic, and $50 guitar (though the new one is $65), and you get $55.  Yet, they charge triple!  WTF?  They literally rip the **** right out of the damn band kit!

I'm sorry for this rant.  I'm sorry if this was previously discussed.  It's just that I was playing on buying the drums and another Wii Remote sometime soon, and this just shits all over that.

EDIT: I realized that I didn't call Amazon.com a bunch of derogatory names.  So, if you could just imagine me doing that (apply you favorites!), that'd be great.

That's not Amazon's price, technically.  It's somebody who bought the full kit to part it out and make triple what he paid for it, just like all the jerks who stood in line for Wiis so they could resell them.  It's no more Amazon's fault than it would be eBay's.  It is Activision's fault for not selling the drum kit, though, but I'm sure it'll still be a ripoff when they do.  A smaller ripoff.

you can always buy the full kit and sell the rest of the parts separately to make your money back.

Yeah, I know.  But it's hard to hate on something called "janglimamazon."  Saying that over and over makes me feel silly.

I'm worried that I'll actually have to do that.

So Amazon/Nintendo is now pissing me off.  Has anyone ever gotten these promotions from Nintendo/Amazon in the mail for $XX dollars off of a game if you purchase online?  I got one for Punchout, which I didn't use ... and now one for Wii Sports Resort - $10 off.  Add to the fact that the game is only $46 online and I would be getting the whole package for $36.  Not bad right.

Except that, despite getting this offer *in the mail* when I go to use it, I'm apparently denied as the "offer has not yet begun".  In fact, 3 days later and I still have the same message.  Did I accidentally get the super USPS delivery of this postcard?  It has no start date.  Only an expiration.  Why mail it out if I have to wait some unknown amount of days before I can use it?  Amazon help will be checking into the problem - I'll post their response if I ever get one.  However, I was curious if anyone else received these post cards?  Has anyone tried to use one and have any issues?

Same thing happened with me and Best Buy. I was offered a deal that didn't come into effect until September. I talked to the manager and they honored it though.

I suggest you try talking to someone with authority.

Amazon mailed back noting it was a technical problem.  If you too are having an issue, I would try contacting Amazon help to get it resolved
