And this is what Khush said to me...  ;-)   "Matt, all I care about are Athrun, Crash, Crimm, and Dasmos. Infernal and Pale are villagers"  Still, it doesn't change the fact that he was of the last group standing.  Good job team.

Yeah, you got there me Matt but that goes back to part of my theory/strategy. If Dasmos ever posts what I sent him, I'll look real smart.

My early game plan.

When Bill sent me the roles, I was elated. First game and I got to be a mafia member. I was also determined to try and win the game with the whole mafia intact. It would probably be a longshot considering all the ways one could die in this game but that was my goal. So, I got a piece of paper and wrote out the whole list of players just as Bill had posted them in alphabetical order. This will be important later. The orginal purpose was to write next to the names the actual roles of people as they were exposed, as well as suspected roles. The next thing I did was write a message to KN about my thoughts for who should hit first and who we should avoid. Keep in mind this was before the game even started. I was a little eager. Anyways, I'll post the message close to its entirety:

First message

Hello Godfather,

Although, we won't start our operations until Monday, I would like to make a suggestion on our first hit and banter about a few suspicions. In regards to our first hit, my suggestion would be Super. It was noted in the last game that he seems to be able to persuade people. As well, I don't see Super being made Cube or the bomber's apprentice. I could see super being made the cop. Anyways, just getting rid of such a powerful influence could only benefit us.

Now, of course, if there seems to be some odd voting for Super when this begins, I say we avoid voting for Super as it could be a push by the B.A. to vote for Cube. (If you understand what I'm saying.)

As for Cube, I say we avoid Unclebob and TYP.

Unclebob made a big deal about being voted out first last time and brought it up again when everyone signed up for this game. Becuase of this some people may think it funny to vote for Unclebob as first one out again. That's why I think we should avoid him, just in case Bill thought this way too and made him Cube.

Also, last game people were upset that TYP was protected and could never be voted out. They felt it was unfair that someone could go through the whole game with no fear of being voted out. Because of this, there may be people wishing to get revenge for that and will vote for TYP. Again, if Bill is thinking this, he may have made TYP Cube.

Plus, Bill really seems to relish the idea of a lot of people dying by Cube so he may try to set it up by making Cube a target that people would want to vote for.

Two, other people I think we should wait before voting for are wandering and Stevey. I don't see Stevey getting the same role almost in back to back games but we should be careful just in case. Wandering I'm not sure about because he wasn't in the last game but there just seems to be something in the banter between him and Bill that makes me cautious.

So let me conclude by saying that I don't plan to give you a big write up like this every night and also let you know I'm not going to overthink everything. It's just that I believe we should have a plan ready before the game begins. As well too, as the godfather, since you will be making the final decisions, I'm sure you'd like to hear from all your advisors as to their opinions before you make your choice. As you can see, I'm ready to give you mine.

I'm glad to be a part of the "family" and I look forward to taking out Tom Nook and making ourselves lords of beanville. We'll show everyone that we're crazy..... like a fox!

End message.

Now, the things to note here are that SUPER now knows who to direct his revenge to, I thought there might be a pattern behind Bill's roles and that even though I wasn't the godfather, I felt the best thing to do would be to help as much as I could so KN could make the best decision for the team.

I didn't hear back from KN until Day 2 but I'd like to post his message as well.

Second Message

Hey sup, its our first kill tonight!

I think you're right about SUPER, he's a threat no matter how you look at it, so that's a good choice, but that may raise suspicions about me....ever since the first game I've had a thing against Ty >_> But if there's no one else to kill, SUPER wouldn't be a bad hit.

I think we should avaid UncleBob, Wandering, Stevey, and Mario because they could be Cube (especially wandering...), nto so much TYP. But it wouldn't hurt to ignore him either, so we'll stay clear of TYP too. I'm not sure about Mario, he in an MSN chat Mario, Stevey, and 18 Days all said they were Cube....we know 18 Days wasn't, and while I don't really tink Mario is Cube, it wouldn't hurt to avoid him either at least for now.

Also, you should probably stop thinking like "oh hey Bill probably gave such-and-such a role," I trust Bill enough to choose at random...

Basically, I don't know who to kill tonight =p I think it'd be safest to kill someone low-profile to avoid any suspicious glances in our direction, but I don't know who.

End Message

The reason I posted this was for two things. KN said that Bill could choose roles randomly and that he thought Mario wasn't Cube. (Sorry KN)

well, that was an interesting ending (but I might have been ticked, had I still been alive).  Hopefully I can actually survive the next game, right now I have played in two, and died in both.

Yeah, that's the post Dasmos. I had a reason for that which I'll get to in the future. Consider my first post part one. This will be part 2, my early game strategy.

Day 1

Before I begin, one thing I would like to mention was that I felt that I had a good middle of the road recognition. That means I probably wouldn't have as high a profile as UncleBob, Wandering or Pale but I wouldn't be under the rader like Blackfootsteps, Hybrid Hunter or Crash. I felt this might help me slip by a bit before people really started paying attention to me.

So, when the game began, I was real eager to vote. And having felt Cube would be someone else, I voted for Crimm. I felt he had the ability to be pretty low-key that maybe people would forget about him, so I thought I should just remind people about him. Other than that, I just wanted to play it safe and hope I didn't get voted for. To my surprise, Crimm didn't even send me a retalitory vote. A villager died and things were starting off just fine. Best of all, I awoke the next day to find out, the guardian angel and a coon had died. Things were great.

One thing I also found funny was TVMan had a throwaway vote to Icecold. We were all fellow mafia and I thought that was a clever idea. It was also something that would help later.

Day 2

The second day was rather interesting. That was the first day I voted for Blackfootsteps. It was between him and Hybrid Hunter. I voted to keep things a tie for two reasons. First, it can provide good help to look back on a close vote and see if there was anything peculiar about who voted for who. Second, since we had a new role, a tie-breaker Mint, I thought it might be useful to see if perhaps making a tie would expose that person.

But Death had other plans. Before the day was done, KN sent me a message saying Icecold had been killed by Death. That, my friends, threw my game into overdrive. Already, we had lost mafia member. But I swore it would not be in vain. I would make the town pay by relentlessly hunting down people. Anyone I could. It wouldn't matter so long as it didn't put the focus on me or my other mafia members.

KN also sent me a note saying that SUPER would be our hit. This was good news for a couple reasons. Like I alluded to in my pre-game note, in the last game, I believe Pale complained about SUPER having too much influence because people would listen to him and vote with him. By taking him out, it would help protect our mafia a bit because we wouldn't have to worry about SUPER leading a charge against us. It also gave me the inspiration for The Blackfootsteps Hunt.

Day 3

As luck would have it, I had that day off. It was the only day off I had during the whole game in fact. But, I was glad nonetheless. Since I would be leading this hunt, I knew that I'd be quite prominent during the day's vote and so I was glad I'd be able to watch and make sure things didn't turn against me. Even more lucky was the fact that when I came to vote, Blackfootsteps already had two votes against him. Now, I'd be able to avenge Icecold's premature death. I threw up my phony evidence knowing the truth the whole time and watched as Stabby self-destructed to a tie vote which he lost. Although it was disappointing at first, learning that Stabby was Copper was a great feeling. I was always a bit apprehensive that my identity might be exposed. Still, I knew that I was by no means safe because there were plenty of other ways to die yet and I went to bed for these first few nights hoping that I would still be going in the morning.

Day 3 also provided me a couple other positives. First of all, I helped save Pale from a vote and got in his good books. Pryopizm had a comment that made my day: "Khush is either the most brilliant con in the world, or he's making a strong point." It was the former Pryo. It gave me the tie I was hoping for and would later help me identify Mint. Blackfootsteps made a weird comment on how Mint made the wrong choice which gave me something further to use against him. By the way, if you're reading this Blackfootsteps, (and let's be serious, who would read this?) I've always wondered if that was a slip-up or if you had given up. I would love an answer on that.

Still, I figured after a second failure to hit Blackfootsteps, I should back off for a moment and start hunting some other people. I figured with all that had happened, Blackfootsteps was probably doomed now anyways and wouldn't be able to shake all the suspicion around him. Plus, I was pretty sure he was just a villager. After all, I just made this stuff up, so I didn't want to end up like Pale and vote out a villager. Besides, in an effort to avenge Icecold, I wanted to spread suspicion around a bunch of people and keep the focus off my mafia. Since it had been so easy to do with Blackfootsteps, I thought I'd just make something up the next day also.

Next time in part 3: Cube goes kablooey and things look grim. The Blackfootsteps Hunt continues. I think I solve the game and I start spreading suspicion.

Unless of course, you don't want to hear the rest.

Hey, that's ok. I was recommending for KN to hit you on day 4 myself. Good thing for me Cube came first. Still I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll mention that during part 3 next time.

A post this long, how could I resist!

Yeah I really had given up, you can ask Zach.

Things just didn't go well - Athrun was seconds away from voting for Stabby and thus saving me completely in the Stabby vote, Pryo (even after telling me he thought I was a villager) changed his vote, I had even checked into the loser's lounge, thankfully I didn't give away my identity in there as I planned to.

I figured that post would look Mafia-ish but I thought that hopefully people would get sick of voting for me after two days of close, stressful (for me at least) stand-offs. I thought that you may look crazy with your attempts to vote me off. It's funny that it all came down to throwaway votes on day 1. I was sick and tired of PMing people begging to be saved, especially after my good townie ally Mystic died in the Bomber attack.  As you said there was too much evidence, however misguided, against me to allow my survival. In the end I died while I was at work and it was a peaceful way to go.

Yeah, he had pretty much given up.  To tell the truth, I didnt think I would be able to keep him much longer.  Something just occured to me, I find it REALLY ironic that the night before I died, everyone was calling me a gullible tool of the mafia.  It turned out that I was actually Nook, and the person everyone was listening to (khush) turned out to be a fox.  Who really were the gullible ones in this game?

I kind of had it figured that Khush was mafia from the get go, I just stuck to my stupid system too much.

There really is something to be said for the fact that mafia members tend to rationalize / prove their votes more than normal townies.  If someone over explains a vote, they are usually trying to hide something.

Well, yeah, I know that not everyone was listening to khush, but enough people were that he was able to take out the last coon.  Also, thanks for the tip pale, now that I think about it, it is true, I gotta remember that for the next game.
