I've never played a single game, and my knowledge is limited to once you start playing, you feel the inexplicable need to "catch 'em all".

Actually I've never seen anyone playing Pokemon actually trying to do that. They're happy when their party is strong enough and leave it at that.

I had an urge to catch em' all in Red/Blue and Gold/Silver and did though i never did get how many 350 in Ruby/Sapphire
