Keyboard and Mouse is how the real FPS do it. Halo's status among other console FPS games is irrelevant because, in the end, that's not where the real competition is.

End thread.

Maybe it's just me but I find just as much enjoyment with a great console FPS as I do with the PC counterpart.  So far the XBox has been the only source of quality console FPS experience but hopefully the Wii will eventually have a killer shooter of its own. Rainbow Six: Vegas, Halo 2, and Call of Duty 2 were all really fun games.  The console FPS is a different beast but when done right it can be just as fun as the PC counterpart.  It will be interesting to see how Shadowrun works with the PC vs. console experience.

"Fucksakes. If Bungie released Halo on Mac/PC, identical to how it turned out on Xbox, NO ONE WOULD GIVE TWO SHITS ABOUT THE GAME. because when directly compared with other FPSes, it falls so horribly short. But no, being the only good game at the launch of an over advertised console sends it to megastar status."

The legendary edition is a moot point anyway. It is an extremely limited edition and it is mainly for those that want the helmet. Think of it as a version of Zelda with one of those Link statues.

At least it wasn't as short as the N64 Yoshi game (Yoshi's STory?). I rented that game and beat it in about25-35 minutes.

I have to say that I find the average reviews scoring 7.5-8.5 a lot closer to my experience than this review.  The single player experience is a blast and I have had oodles more enjoyment playing through these levels than SMB2. The controls are a perfect match for the game and the levels become more difficult and not simply frustrating. The multiplayer experience is flawed by some horrible mini-games but once you have weeded out the junk there are a significant amount of gems.  I have yet to play a lot of the nunchuck required mini-games, due to my lack of second nunchuck, but I have found some great party games with just the wiimote. Banana Thief, Dangerous Route, Sumo (I can see disliking this one but once you get a hang of the controls it provides some good laughs), and Ring Toss are all a lot of fun. The sport games are also quite a good time even if they are not up to par with WiiSports. My biggest complaint is not with the mini-games as with whoever wrote the instructions to them.  There are mini-games which I assumed to be broken only to realize that the instructions were totally misleading. Some of the mini-games like whack-a-mole and the aforementioned hammer games are utter crap but thankfully there are enough fun mini-games to totally make up for it.

I also think the minigames NEED friends to play with. I may only enjoy 70 percent of the mini games but with a friend I really enjoy that percentage a lot. I'm still not sure if my choice of this over Rayman was right but it is still a really good time.

I'm surprised people are having trouble with the controls in the main game.  There are a few mini games I have issue with but the main games controls seem really intuitive.

Places may have more Wiis than you think. The store I work at (which is not allowing me to buy my Wii from grrrrr) just got their second shipment. We only have around 17 units now but that is still impressive since we got 0 PS3s and have not been selling video games until recently.

I would be beyond pissed off in Nintendo pulled a stunt like disabling all the VC games purchased in order to force people to buy them again. However, I don't see this happening and still doubt the legality of the act.

I'm not sure that this is the situation at all Rogers but it sure ended up being a fluke for me.

To the Canadians out there, check out Rogers Video. I just went in and on a whim asked if they would have any Wiis for sale.  The manager took down my name and gave me confirmation that one would be there for me Saturday at midnight! No more waiting at Best Buy for me.

I just hope more reviews start coming in quickly.  I'm having a hell of a time deciding which two games to pick up launch day and a little assistance would be much appreciated.  Some Rayman reviews would especially be useful.

If it was 300 and launched with FFXIII I would consider it.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:IGN reviews

It's not so much the graphic scores that bother me as much as the mention of the higher powered systems in these early reviews.  If game has washed out textures, rampant jaggies, etc. than I want to know about it. However, I also want that kept within the context of the system.  To be fair this might just be symptom of launch-time reviewing and will subsequently cease in further IGN reviews.  Personally, I have nothing against the reviewers over there and honestly believe those guys to be pretty die-hard Nintendo fans.

And by ROMs I mean the digital game files you can download with the Wii. :p

I mean is it legal to suddenly say that you cannot play a game that you purchased.  It seems he was asking if Nintendo might suddenly change formats and prohibit the use of the purchased games.

I'm taking a gamble here and assuming in five years Nintendo won't switch the format and prevent you from using your old ROM files.

Would that be legal?

Cassamassina and Bozon need to adopt Harris' perspective when reviewing Wii games, quickly.

Agreed.  It is going to get really old if every Wii review says the graphics do not meet the standards set by the PS3 or the  360.  The purpose of the review should be to review the game, not the system.  It is common knowledge that the Wii is underpowered compared to the other systems and subsequently will not have the same visual impact.  If this is going to be a continued practice I would hope that the editors of the other systems would include when the controls of their versions were not a fun as the Wii version. Sadly, this will most likely not be the case.

I'm sure peeing will become a microtransaction on the 360 version.  EA is starting to piss me off.

Nintendo Gaming / London Drugs wii-less
« on: November 15, 2006, 05:11:34 PM »
I just got back from the London Drugs around the corner and asked about how many Wiis they would be getting in on launch day.  The video game guy said they would not be getting the Wii since they did not have enough space.  Of course that isn't stopping them from carrying the much larger and much scarcer PS3.  I would think the larger mark-up alone would warm retailers to the Wii. Basically, London drugs is not ago for the Wii.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Who is getting a Wii but NOT ZELDA ??
« on: November 12, 2006, 09:41:06 AM »
It depends on if I have finished FFXII by the launch day. It might be too much taking on both games at once. That is also assuming I only buy one game at launch. If I get two then Zelda will be one of them on matter what.
