Well, dammit. I bought GGXXAC under the impression that Plus was NEVER coming out in the states, given the game is pretty niche. I will double dip for the story and team modes.

I can totally feel your pain. Things were somewhat managable for me before several delays; I had Madden, Crysis Warhead and Spore lined up for September, Wario Land Shake It and a few downloadables in early October, Naruto UNS and LittleBigPlanet in the second half, GTA4 in November and Tales of Symphonia 2 for December. I did get through Spore, but it was a rush job and I'd like to give it a second playthrough, finished Warhead, and I wasn't in the football mood when I bought Madden....and am just getting into that NOW. I put off the Wario Land purchase to cover bills, and Wipeout HD was far more engrossing than I ever anticipated.

The Naruto and LBP delays freed up room for.....PS3 DEMO HELL. Seriously, you get roped into way more stuff than you'd ever imagine because of free demos every week. So now I've added NBA 2k9 and Valkyria Chronicles to the purchase list! I'm picking up 2k9 for PC this weekend, which now leaves Wario Land, LBP, Naruto UNS, Valkyria Chronicles, GTA4, and Tales 2 (which I've only recently found out now comes out in November and not December) for the next two months. LBP, 2k9 and Madden have endless gameplay, and GTA, Valkyria and Tales 2 combined are probably at least 150 hours. And god the backlog....Baten Kaitos 2, DMC4, World Of Goo, Super Paper Mario, Assassin's Creed, The Witcher, and the Strong Bad games all sit unfinished in their various places.

But I think I'll manage.

EDIT: Gah, and I forgot about Left 4 Dead! Though I'm only getting it if I can get some friends of mine to buy it as well because I'm way too pansy to play that game alone.

I own World of Goo (and PixelJunk Eden for that matter), but I'd rather have Braid. No knock on Goo, but the design and type of game Braid is speaks to me more. I don't have a 360 so I'm still waiting for the PC port.

i see this game and the great reviews but i don't get it. I guess its a game unless you play you don't get. I don't get it. I fear i will buy this game and it won't be up to greatness everyone says, or if it is great it won't be my type of game. I'm not into starcraft so it doesn't matter how many 10's it gets I don't get RTS games like that so similar to this all the great reviews can come but I don't think I will like it.

Being a college student using 80% of my money on paying down debt, 10% on dates with girls 5% on food that tiny % of extra money has to be spent on something I KNOW FOR A FACT I WILL ENJOY. So no buy for me.

Or you could check out the 32MB PC demo.

Agreed on the Wii list,  and I'll toss in Wario Land Shake, Tales of Symphonia 2, and De Blob in there for good measure.

If I was a Wii-only owner (and I'm not), I'd have plenty to play throughout the fall.

Maybe this will sound noobish but if your monitor supports 1920x1200 why can't it support 1920x1080? I run my ps3 through my 24" monitor, using HDMI, I don't notice any difference when it is connected to the 42" HDTV my parents have. 

The PS3 is an HD device; it naturally outputs 720p and 1080p at their proper aspect ratios, and thus a monitor can simply upscale (720p) or display native 1:1 (1080p) and you get things the way they're meant to be seen. The problem comes with SD content, which all output at a ratio of 3:2 (720x480), and televisions re-interpret this as 4:3 or 16:9 (which for dvds is called anamorphic). Many (if not all?) widescreen monitors don't have a "scale as 4:3" or "scale as 16:9" option, only the ability to just "scale", which leaves the video in the improper 3:2, "fill screen", which stretches the screen to an improper 16:10, or leave as 1:1, which would be a small 720x480 window in the middle of a sea of black on the screen.

I just bought a 24" widescreen monitor myself this month (BenQ FP241W) and went through these same frustrations in testing out the Wii on it. I never got it with the intention of viewing SD content on it though, so it's not that much of a dealbreaker for me.

No complaints from me. While personally I'm 1000x more psyched for the next installment of Guily Gear to hit Wii (if indeed that rumor turns out true), I fully recognize the importance of a company like Rockstar supporting the Wii, and actually would be very tempted in buying a copy of Manhunt 2 provided it turns out OK.

Interesting. Two of the games in today's updates just happened to be my most played GC games: Tales of Symphonia and Soul Calibur II. I don't have neither game on me to check, but I'm pretty sure I put just over 80 hours into Tales and almost 100 into SCII. Those SCII hours being mostly multiplayer, quite an achievement.

I had thought of this when playing the game, but forgot about it after I beat it. But the thought just came back to me: did anyone feel....more than a bit let down that [Dungeon 7 spoilers] the lost lands in the sky was JUST a dungeon? With the hints of an ancient race that created the hylians, I was expecting something great, like a whole new area to explore in the sky and uncover old legendary secrets and stuff, but instead all it was was a dungeon (a very GOOD dungeon, but still)? Having the little dungeon companion originally come from there was a nice touch, but I think Nintendo blew an awesome opportunity to open up the Zeldaverse even more.

Lotta kinks to work out still:

-Limited Flash support (check gametrailers.com)
-It spits some sites right back to the homepage after a click or a scroll (gamespot.com)
-Gmail outright freezes the console.
-Some Flash sound lag; I think it occurs if you play around with the zoom while video is running, not sure of the trigger but it can happen.
-Support for WMV or QT streams would be nice (not expecting it though).
-Some pages have the Wii page scroll option, some have their own scrollbar. Probably a webcode thing, but kinda weird.

Not hating on it since it's beta though. Proper Youtube function is a big deal alone!

From my Wii bowling playtime, it seems that the earlier you release the ball (without throwing it backwards obviously), the more curve it'll have. A nice early release with a hard hand twist left or right creates a very sharp turn.

About the controls from the Gamespot review:

"The combat controls are more conventional on the GameCube, since you won't be shaking the controller around to attack (though if you've already played the Wii version, expect to feel dumb when you start to shake your WaveBird and wonder why nothing's happening), but the Wii controls actually end up feeling more precise in a direct comparison. It's easier and faster to aim your arrows, boomerang, or other targeted items using the Wii Remote. It's easier to move the camera around with the Wii Remote, too. While the GameCube controller is more precise when it comes to swinging your sword, the easier aiming and spin attack make the Wii version's combat controls superior, even though they have a few issues of their own.

"Also, the spin attack has been changed quite a bit. On the Wii, you execute a spin attack by shaking the Nunchuk controller attachment. After you perform the move, there's a downtime when you can't spin, and the Wii speaker makes a noise to let you know when it's available again. The GameCube version works the opposite way. Instead of being immediately available, you have to charge up the spin attack by holding down B. This is how it's been done in previous Zelda games, so it's not a huge deal, but having the spin attack available at a moment's notice makes it a significantly more useful maneuver on the Wii."

Well, with components you get a sharper image and much more improved colors. 480P offers a resolution increase, but that's a far cry from any HD res. I've read in some Wii reviews about games, particularly Zelda, looking a bit worse with the added clarity of component cables, so it's not an isolated issue. I don't notice anything like that from my personal experience, but I don't have an ED/HDTV either.

Unsheathing never gave me issues because I walk/ride (and always have in the 3D Zeldas) with my sword out 99% of the time. Never knew you could do the cool sheathing motion manually until way late. As for the shield bash, I've had more success jerking the nunchuck diagonally downward than directly forward. I guess because I can get more extension that way, and maybe it reads better. Either way, after practicing with it for a few minutes and getting it down consistently, I didn't have anymore issues. Not that it matters since you can go the entire game without using it.

Crimm: Bugs become a little easier to find when you realize that every male/female comes from the same general map location. Just read the bug log.

Just finished the seventh dungeon. My god, my brain is numb from the clawshot puzzles. I was pretty much cruising through each dungeon until then! I'll save the twilight mirror cinematics for tomorrow.
