I'm pretty sure it still has some Smackdown characteristics like the way you do finishers/specials.

Actually WrestleMania X8 had a different manner of using/reversing finisher which I still find to be the best system yet.

I mean due to it's nature, the finisher can pretty much be put on any time, not some timed period like in the AKI games or in a dazed state like the SmackDown games. All you got to do is get into a position and you are set.

To balance that, every finisher also has a counter.

That was one of the best aspects of WrestleMania x8, that I don't think any other game comes close to.

So it's still like Smackdown. Oh well. . . if only Def Jam has a create-a-wrestler/rapper mode.

 It's more like a SmackDown/No Mercy hybrid.

The weak grapples give you the fast pace action of the SmackDown series while the strong grapples gives you more options as well as more strategy like the old AKI games.

What is everyone's opinions on the story mode?

I've seen it range from being utter BS and a disrespect to wrestling games to something fresh

Well Rick posted new impressions on WrestleMania XIX on the mainsite and it sounds pretty cool.

Just a few questions though:
1)Exactly how many grapples are there? I'm assuming it will be 5 weak and 5 strong grapples, but GameSpot makes it seems like 10 weak grapples and 8 strong grapples. Any confirmation?

2)For the most part are the entrance more on-key? I saw snippets of Hogan's entrance at GameSpot as well as in the THQ trailer.

3)Is the HIAC more interactive or were you not allowed to go outside?

4)Did you get a chance to fight on the ramp?

5)Will there be backstage fighting in anything other than the story mode?

6)How was the portion of story mode, you played?

 I think that is all.

I'm not too sure about the PokeMon Channel game, the reason I doubt it's the PokeMon Box game is

1)Nintendo just titled it, why rename it?
2)PokeMon Box is scheduled to ship at the end of the month, why would Nintendo delay something so basic?
3)The magazine already had a story of the PokeMon Box in the last issue.

Will you be able to change attire in WrestleMania XIX?
I mean it was a nice feature in No Mercy and the other AKI games, but I don't think any of the new games allows you to change someone's attire, atleast Shut Your Mouth and x8.

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Kart: Double Dash Question

My guess is if you have control over the second character, it's very limited as to just aim and what not, and I think that would be accomplished with the C-Stick.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Should Release a Mario Compilation

On top of that, they also ported Super Mario Bros. and Lost Levels in Mario DX.  They have ported Super Mario Bros. 2 in Mario Advance.  They have ported Super Mario World in Mario Advance 2.  They ported Yoshi's Island in Mario Advance 3.

That being said, by using my Gamecube and GB Player, I am able to play all of the Mario series except Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 64.  Hardly enough to warrant a compilation if you ask me.

Well couldn't they include some of the Mario spin-offs? I mean the two RPGs, Yoshi's Story, some of the mini-games from the Mario Party series, I'm sure they could work in some cool features, I mean Mario does have a huge history.

And quit bragging about your GB Player...

Rahter detailed and interesting impressions, thus far almost every site that had time with the game came back with almost glowing reviews of the potential the game has.

I don't know if you had a chance to pick to THQ about this, but it is in a few screens over at GameSpot shows some backstage areas. I know that one of them is a screen from the Revenge mode as it has Taker taking on two Security guards, but there is another with Shawn Michaels and Triple H in what looks like a mall or lopbby, so do you know if there is gonna be backstage fighting in normal modes?

Needless to say, as soon as I get a chance to tug someone's ear in a position to affect change, I'll be giving them a LOT of feedback.  But it's looking like I might not have to.

Anyway, all I can say is that if you guys are wrestling fans, you might want to make sure you keep yourself available in the evenings this weekend.  Although, if you're a little busy around 8PM EST Sunday, I'll understand.

*Checks schedule*

I may be available on Saturday, but most of Sunday is booked up.
We plan on watching a bunch of old WrestleMania tapes to get us pumped for XIX. I don't know which though.

Actually, the Story mode is a pretty novel idea.  But if that doesn't float your boat, just remember that this is in ADDITION to the standard "Career" mode, not instead of.  Best of both worlds.

I think the story mode sounds like a unique idea, and it gives us something new as SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth proved, you can get close to it, but it is VERY hard to duplicate an actual WWE storyline in a game. I still prefer the more episodic approach that No Mercy took.

One question since you seem to have some info on the game, does Yukes plan on using those "story" mission levels in the actual game as backstage fighting areas? I mean it means no sense to have them there and not have the ability to use them, and what wrestling fan hasn't dreamt of fighting a match on a yahct....

Ultimate Muscle is NOT a wrestling game.  It's a fairly generic "fighting" game, centered around wrestling.

I thought the game looked interesting, but eh.

Besides, we'll have more information soon enough.

I heard the game will be playable at WrestleMania XIx (the event) so I'm figuring that's where IGN and Gamingring will get to go hands on with it, and I'm assured that you are going to the event as well so will you have hands-on impressions of the game as well?

And since I know you are a big wrestling fan, will you give a fair assesstment or whether or not wrestling gaming fans should look forward to this at all, after the game that was WrestleMania x8.
