The new trailer at the end of today's Nintendo Direct was absolutely awesome.

I sure hope this game sells well. It seems as though it might have wider appeal than other Wii U games. Hopefully it interests players both young and old.

Oh, and in case you didn't catch it in today's Direct, this game will be available on September 15th.

When I sat down to make this list, I was surprised to see how many games I was actually interested in for the remainder of the year. I most certainly won't be picking them all up at launch, but considering the length of some of these games, I'm sure I'll always have something to play. This list doesn't even include eShop or the 3DS purchases.

Pikmin 3
New Super Luigi U (Pre-ordered)
The Wonderful 101
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Super Mario 3D World
Wii Party U
Assassin's Creed IV
Watch_Dog
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Batman: Arkham Origins
Rayman Legends

On a side note, and at the risk of derailing this thread, I really want a unique online FPS for the Wii U in the vein of something like Goldeneye 007 (on the Wii). I say "unique" because it was developed for the system, wasn't a war-themed shooter, and was actually good. The online play was simplified compared to COD and I found it be to more fun and addicting as a result.

I'm still crossing my fingers for a special Zelda edition 3DSXL. I have been wanting to upgrade but I want a special edition piece of hardware. Maybe it'll be all gold with a Trifoce emblazoned on it.

If it happens, Mike, you pre-order that thing immediately.

A fellow over on CAG claims to have picked up a Basic Wii U at Target (in Canada) for $150.

If true, then perhaps we can put this thread to rest.

I can see it if the store just opened, and they're doing a $50 instant rebate on a $200 purchase (and they're price matching Walmart).

According to the post, the fellow picked up the last one and asked a clerk to scan it, where it rung up $150. Another account on that site has someone asking a clerk to scan it, and when the $150 price came up they  said that must be a mistake and refused to sell it to him.

And so the mixed messaging continues.

We will make this game famous.

"Famous" or "infamous"?

I believe Shaymin will be happy that Kirby's Dream Land 2 is finally getting a VC release. And for $4, that's not too shabby.

84
I would really like a detail explanation of what the problem is.

The Arkham series has been staunching single-player focused. If you want this game & don't own one of the other platforms, I don't think you really lose anything by buying the Wii U version unless it's a shoddy port.
They just confirmed its a shoddy port.

It's missing a tacked-on multiplayer mode. So what? It's not like the Wii U version of Arkham City with the reportedly malfunctioning motion controls.

I'm currently playing Armoured Edition, and I think it makes great use of the gamepad's screen. However, I quickly disabled the motion controls.

In a way, I can understand where the developer is coming from. With comparatively low sales, the online multiplayer of the game would probably go widely unused. However, in light of this decision I'm fully expecting a discount on the Wii U version of this game, as it should cost less to develop. If there isn't one, then I have no problem waiting for a price drop.

85
I'm currently playing through Batman: Arkham City: Armoured Edition on the Wii U, for the first time, and I'm finding it to be fun as hell. As someone who doesn't own a 360 or a PS3, you might want to check out some of the multi-platform third party releases.

TalkBack / Re: R.I.P. Louie the Cat 1998-2013

This is very sad news :(

I lost a young dog about a month ago to an uncommon disease, and it was heartbreaking. Pets always touch our lives in ways we neither fully anticipate or often fully appreciate at the time. I am sure that Louie left Billy with many happy memories, and that they are a source of comfort to him during this sad time.

I had an original DS phat that scrapped, dented, scratched, and pounded beyond recognition.  It was even accidentally ran over with a lawnmower and survived. Hell, it even survived being sprayed with a water hose when my house was damaged by a fire next door. I let it sit in the window for about three or four days to dry before powering it up. It worked like new for the exception of causing GBA games to freeze, but this eventually stopped. Sadly, a burglar broke into my house and stole it before I could put it into more torture tests. I was planning to take the electrical components and shoot it with .22 caliber shorts and then put it back together.

Don't have kids.

$50 for The Wind Waker makes sense to me. I'd buy it for that if I didn't already own it.

90
Thanks for the info, UncleBob! If any Canadian customers are interested, it's currently $102.99 at Amazon.ca!

Personally, I'm interested, but can't quite bring myself to pull the trigger. Though I almost have a complete collection of the Official Nintendo Player's Guides, I don't own any of Prima's, and I fear that purchasing this might open up the floodgates...

What questions have you been asking, UB?

EDIT: Well, I went ahead an pre-ordered it anyway :p

It seems to me that if there is any issue to be taken here, it is between the Wii U and third party publishers. Enthusiast sites like Nintendo World Report only want to update us on the latest Nintendo-related news, and I am relying on them to do so. This is the first I've heard about the newly-projected D&D: Chronicles of Mystara release date -- a game that I have been eagerly anticipating.

I always think it's weird that people buy games and never play them (as in NEVER), then I noticed I have a sealed copy of Mortal Kombat for XBox 360 on my shelf...that I've had for 2 years.

I also have a sealed GTAIV Collector's Edition that I bought at a closing BlockBuster a couple years ago for $14. I think it's worth about $180 now.

Much like the pool on Clone High, you should flip the bitch!

96
I have to agree with you good folks. While the lack of exciting surprises was disappointing, I thought what they showed was solid. I didn't think any of the games looked ground-breaking or revolutionary, but they all looked fun.

That said, barring delays, 2014 should be a big year for the Wii U.

June download, August physical.

Well, at least it has an average release month of July.

Is New Super Luigi U a July release? If so, it would be a candidate for Nintendo's release that month, no?

I went bananas for the original Donkey Kong Country games when I was younger, and I played the hell out of DKCR on the Wii. Though it's not the jaw-dropping, amazeballs reveal that I think we were all hoping for from Retro, there isn't a single doubt in my mind that this game won't be great, and that I won't enjoy the crap out of it. I'm looking forward to it!

This is amazing news! I would have been fine with more remixes, possibly from DKC 2 (Bramble Blast stage music, anyone?) but this is far more exciting! I hope he manages to make some modern DKC classics.
