TalkBack / Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Announced for Switch 2

The rock and gem motifs gives me a Goron game vibes more than DK.

Hopefully this will breath new life into the Chibi-Robo IP

I REALLY don't like the sounds of a "Japan Only" system. I know the Yen is very weak but this will cause problems in the future. I hope it's not a hardware lock and especially hope there aren't games released only for Japan Only systems. If Nintendo was smart, they will sell 20,000 Yen upgrades for Japan Only systems to unlock Multi-Language operation by flashing the operating system (and adjusts the pricing downwards as Yen improves in strength).

I don't like $80 price for games but $80 in 2025 is $59.52 in 2015 and $48.24 in 2005 so it's not unexpected. Inflation marches on....

Console pricing is way above inflation but who knows whether it's because they're being forced by outside factors or if they're trying to close the gap between what people will pay to get it day one and the sales price to cut out resellers.

TalkBack / Re: Multiple Switch Games To Receive Switch 2 Updates
« on: April 03, 2025, 05:46:35 AM »
These are probably the canceled "Switch Pro" enhancements that aren't major enough to justified charging for. Like more stable frame rates and resolution (for the games the dynamically scale down) but not 4K 60fps. BotW and TotK probably had enhancements made as well but I doubt they will undermine the sales of the upgrade by releasing them.

Charging money for this is absolutely insane. Nintendo is making the same mistake as they did when they didn't include Nintendo Land + Game & Wario as free bundled in games for the Wii U. At the very least, it should be free for the first year or first two Christmas seasons. In fact, that would work even better as more people would download it from FOMO and then have it on their system to show off the Switch 2 with leading to free organic advertising.

6
Make sense since the new adapter is (rumored) to be 65W vs the 40W one that came with the Switch.

7
I was expecting SD cards to still work for Switch 1 games like HDDs still work for PS5/XBX but I guess this helps eliminate confusion of what to buy for the Switch 2 for nontechnical shoppers.

Odd that they are censoring the new "C" button on the joycon2. A lot of leakers are hinting that it's the Switch 2's biggest gimmick and no one has guessed it yet.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Reveals Switch 2

The trailer would have been cooler if it was released late last December before literally everything inside of it leaked out. Also doesn't bode well for Nintendo's relationship with 3rd parties as a ton of companies wanted to show off Switch 2 accessories at CES and Nintendo didn't even release this then to accommodate them.

What the hell, Sony has been the ones that had the more censorship for PS4 releases, why reverse it? I was looking forward to Death End re;Quest Z too....

From what I hear, the Neptunia Rebirth ports are laughably broken. Odd that NOA is blocking them and not the original Japanese release.

I tried to play XCX but gave up after just a few minutes from the text being too annoyingly small on my CRT or WiiU tablet. Backlogged it until the day I have a massive 100"+ TV to actually make out the text. Hopefully the switch version makes it more playable for people without scanning electron microscope eyes.

I was hoping this would be a switch 2 launch window remake. Actually kinda disappointed by this.

Rumor has it there will be a lot of these 1st/2nd/3rd party remasters and ports filling the gap between now and when Nintendo can start releasing its heavy hitting games for the switch 2 which might be a while beyond launch. I don't expect any of them to be switch 2 exclusive unless they're a port that had no chance of running on the switch but many of them should be switch 2 enhanced.

The regular theme is broken too. The day delay between new posts and it appearing on the home page killed the site's engagement.... Oh it's fixed now.

I’ve seen some people say this is being released so late in the Switch's life not just because of the Switch Online controllers but also to offer a charging device for the Switch successor. It seems like the new system might still support the Joy-Cons but probably can't charge them natively. What's your thoughts on that?

I hear a lot of switch 2 speculation from this but I'm surprised nobody is considering a nvidia Shield-esque screen-less battery-less budget system refresh like the Wii mini for the switch.

Fully expect Khush to pass off D&D as a Mafia game

I've wanted a playable Zelda with magic Zelda game for over 15 years now. But the nagging thought in the back of my head was how to make the magic actually interesting and distinct from non-magical Link's items. The chemistry/physics engine of BotW seems to be their solution. While magic could break the game and make it too easy like Kirby, they can make it more limited and situational based to make it challenging. They haven't said anything about how you select summons so you might be limited to a set of local ones to find a winning combinations. I don't think they're going TotK building path (at least for the 1st game) and probably closer to great plateau BotW experience where you can rush enemies with spamming summons or you can find ways to exploit the environment + magic.

The only downside is they used the remake LA toy-like models, I rather something closer to the old artwork or anime. I get it that it makes the magic less jarring and out of place looking if everything has a toybox appearance but still...

Sounds silly to say, but not too bad. I was afraid we would be talking 200-300.
It was $200+ a few years ago but then people started importing Japanese adapters for ~$100 and it dropped the prices. I picked one up last year and tested it out with a modded wii + dolphin.

Right in time for the 'death' of Switch emulation, an easy way to dump switch games over USB is here:

Maybe one day the E3 generation will move up the ranks in various game companies' leaderships and bring E3 back like in olden days

They should have made a live action Metroid movie and had Zelda be a 2D anime series/movie with all the tropes.

Trusty sources report that it will have an uncensored shower scene.

I guess all the people saying Mario's voice in Wonder was different were correct

24
I read that as in between PS4 and PS5 but closer to the PS4 or PS4 Pro. The canned Switch Pro would have probably been around double the power as the Switch so double that again for the Switch 2 and we're in PS4 Pro territory.
